997.182: A Cup of Caffe!

Jac stretches and yawns, slipping one arm around Mira's waist, "I
could use some sleep."

Leaning down to Mira's ear he whispers, "Care to join me?"

But then he straightens back up and says, "But we probably should
talk to the Captain before we do. How, while Lessa gets her daughter
to bed in her cabin all the rest of us have a cup of Caffe in the
galley and decide what we do next?"

"Sounds like a plan, Jac... Both parts!" He chuckles. "Give me a moment to
start a brew."

Woof helps Lessa out of the boat. If Rachel is sleeping, he'll carry her to
Lessa's stateroom. If she's not, he'll guide them, escorting them to the
room. He gives Rachel a hug. "Welcome to our home, Rachel," he says, then
says, to Lessa, "Coffee in the galley if you want..."

Woof then goes and brews a big pot and pulls out a bottle of some fine
whiskey to go along. Sleep should follow before long after.

"We'll start the brew." Jac says, "You get Lessa and Rachel settled."

Rachel is under the covers and Lessa is sitting on the edge of the
bed holding her daughter's hand.

Lessa says, "If you don't mind, I'm going to stay with my daughter.
Get her settled. I will probably just go to sleep here. Wake me if
you need me, okay?"

When Woof returns to the galley, Jac has shown unexpected talents
and has a pot of coffee already brewing in the coffeemaker, and is
putting out mugs for everyone.

Seeing the whiskey bottle, Jac chuckles, "Yes, that might improve my
coffee, but with the lack of sleep and food, I suspect a slug of
that will also put us right to sleep."

Ricardo and Jez smell the coffee as they head down the corridor
toward the galley. They also hear chuckles and the murmur of
conversation. Rounding the corner they see Woof, Jac, Mira and Cory
waiting for them.

Lysia walks in sniffing the air, "Ah the undenyable smell of Jac Coffee,
just the pick me up I need."

"I hear," Lysia says pouring herself a cup of coffee and then offering to
pour for Ricardo, "that you all have had quite the day."

"Mine was delightfully quite," she says taking a sip, "started out with a
little shopping, some gambling, at which point I was mistaken for some
rogishly charming and very beautiful young woman, arrested and left to
slowly decompose with boredom in a local jail cell."

She takes another sip of coffee, "Oh and I got my ass tatooed as well," she
slips a finger into her waist band, "would you like to see?"

"How was your day?"

"I see your's was too!" Woof grins, handing a cup to Ricardo. "Package is
safely delivered, and the Blue Rain is gone too."

Woof hands a cup to Jez. "A shot?" he asks.

"Works for me," he says, waving the bottle around to see if anyone wants to
'calm their nerves'. If there are any takers, he makes what is known as an
Irish Caffe, otherwise, he returns the bottle.

"So what's next, skipper? The sooner we lift, I'm thinking the better."

"Sleep. I've been up over 24 and most of you have too. Then I'll hit
up those folks we had the cargo for, see if they have anything bound
for where we're headed next, see what's around on spec, then lift.
Then we get to see if our nav skills are as good as Shawn's. At

He chuckles, thinking of the current crew aboard the Rain. "Among
other things...."

Cory does. You can find his stats and information on

Yes you're right. From the page, we know the skill isn't outstanding because
it's not bold. I guess I misspoke. I should of said, "I don't know how bad it
is," because from the page, I can tell how good it's not and depending on how
bad it is, it could be Cory as well as Earl who both only know how good it's
not, especially if neither know enough to know if it's bad or not, which
would not be good.

OOC> Actually, since I have my character sheet handy, skills in bold
are "Excellent" and skills not in bold are "Good"

Cory's "Good" trumps Ricardo's "Mediocre" in astrogation, so Cory,
you're it. You're also our sensors guy now that Arvitis is off.

Ricardo says "Well, if he's got any sense at all, he's asleep, like

on this spacegoing nuthouse and has run away.

"I left him and Uke here when I went to retrieve Jez. You should see

He gestures to Jac, standing near the terminal. "Call up Maria Virgy

Ukanav speaks from the comm in the galley, "I hope you don't mind me
listening in from up here on the bridge. I've keep my eyes and ears
open while everyone was gone. The new crewman spent some time in
Engineering with you Captain getting acquanted with the setup back
there, then I helped him find a cabin and he went to bed. He's still
there, although he should be waking up pertty soon."

"Speaking of sleep." he continues, "I can stay up here on duty for
another watch, but then I'll need to take a nap, or I'll go 'muzzy'
on you."

OOC: Woof and Jez know that 'muzzy' is a term the Vargr on Serbia
use for a state of disorientation they go into if they go too long
without sleep. They tend to become much more aggressive and don't
think clearly until after then have rested for a few hours. Most
Vargr can go for 30 to 40 hours before entering that muzzy
state...so Ukanav probably can pull one more shift.

keep him locked out of the controls until I wake up. "

"...Jez, catch a nap and relieve Uke in 4. I'll nap now, then get

'Woof, I'll press you and Jac into duty scaring up some cargo headed
that way, if any; talk to those factors we got the cargo from. Again,
after you've gotten some rest. Mira, I want you to give Del a
physical and get a med history this afternoon, just the standard."

OOC> How long to the jump point in this system?

He records a message for Del, instructing him to use the term in his
room, the lounge or in the galley here to familiarize himself with
the systems and run some sims, but for the moment, since he's the
ONLY crew member awake right now other than Uke, he's locked out of
the engineering compartment and controls. No offense, but he's a
probie right now.

Then he calls up the security stuff on the term and makes sure Del is
indeed locked out of the actual ships systems that he just gets
access to the records, manuals and sims.

"COmments, suggestions, stupid things I've forgotten?"

Then he yawns a great yawn and heads to his cabin to sleep, setting
his alarm for four hours.

Jac says, "You don't trust him? You think he might be a plant? If
so, shouldn't we keep Lessa and Rachel out of his sight until after
we're in jump?"

OOC: Right! Except, *maybe* Jez who might have slept some in her
cell. :)

OOC: Yes, Newton would be the logical next stop, and the place (High
Pop system) any good cargo (Ag or Ag Products) you get here will
most likely be going.

OOC: It will be a 6 to 8 hour run out to the jump point for your
ship depending on whether you "cruise" or "push it" on the way out.

The security systems *do* show that Del is indeed locked out of all
actual ship controls. He has read access of Engineering records,
manuals and sims, and access to the comm system.

Off he, and the rest of you, go! ZZZzzzzz!

"Right Ricardo. After sleep." He stifles a yawn. "I'll be focusing on

"Can't think of anything..." Woof yawns again, stretches, places the Caffe
Caraffe in the cleaner and then heads to his stateroom. He stops by Lessa
and Rachel's stateroom on the way, and tucks them in if they are asleep.

He goes back to his quarters and crashes immediately.

Good, time then for a nap while running out and then we'll all be
alert for jump.

"No, no!" Jac holds up his hands, "You're the Captain, and I know
nothing about these shipboard things of which you speak. I just know
I don't want them broken while we're flying around. Not good for the
health, you know!"

"Cory?" Jac turns toward the blue man, "Communications are your
forte, correct? We can surreptitiously record any calls Del makes
can't we?"

OOC: Of course, you can! :)

Once the meeting finishes Cory goes to the bridge and starts up his scan of
communications. "Here you go Ukanav. You can compare the ID's of the calls to
this list which is the communications ID's for the crew. If it's not on the
list and inside this circle you might want to wake some one. Unfortunately,
I'm using the EMS, so it won't tell me which side of this line the comm is
originating, unless that is you want to taxi around in circles so the sensor
moves," he says as he tries to wag his tail. Cory then routes the alarm that
used to go over the intercom to just the bridge.

"From my previous calculations the earliest our buddies next door should be
back is XX:XX so you might want to keep an eye on them when they show up just
in case."

"Wake me up in 6 hours, I want to refresh my astrogation calculations before
we leave."

"Night."
