Folks, I'm sorry, but I just can't get the juices flowing in myself to get the Akus game going again. It's been a good long run, but I think it is done. Maybe at a later date I'll feel like revisiting the Mae Lee and her crew, but not now. I'm not saying I'm not going to be running a game here, it just won't be the current Mae Lee game. First, I thought about resetting the Mae Lee game to a future date and summarizing what happens between you leaving Serbia and the game restarted, but that didn't turn me on. Next, I thought about running a new group of PC's in the same basic setting. This interested me more, but my brain hasn't gotten any traction on that idea...IOW, the idea sounds good to me, but I can't stir up *enough* interest to make it happen right now. This is a maybe later idea. Finally, I thought...why not run something unrelated to the Akus universe that I *am* interested in running and see if that gets my creative juices flowing again. The scenario would be bog standard CT Traveller, with a clearly defined beginning, middle and end. Knowing how PBEM's go it might take years to play out, but it would have a set path...no, not a railroad plot, your PC's will have plenty of opportunities to do what you will, but you would also have a mission with a starting point, and ending point, and a time table to get from the start to the end. Specifically, you would be people who have just been demobbed from the Imperial Navy at the end of the 5th Frontier War and have been hired to crew a merchant ship from Glisten to Wonstar down a branch of the Spinward Main. Once there they are to turn it over to the Wonstar Trading Company where they will be paid off. Along for the ride will be the eldest son of the Baron of Wonstar, principal stockholder in the Wonstar Trading Company, and getting him safely from Glisten to Wonstar is, a not insignificant, part of the job. You would be playing former Scout, Merchant, Navy, Army or Marine PC's. *Standard* CT basic characters, pretty much standard CT rules, pretty much standard OTU setting. Post here if interested and those of us who *are* interested can discuss it. If you aren't interested, that's okay, too. Eris

Eris I'm interested. I don't have the CT books; I'm trying right now to get the spread sheet working. I'm to cheap to buy MS. If you need help, I can gen you up a character, based on a concept. Let's see...we have Greg, JR, Bob, Bruce and Earl. Yes? Eris Akus

Yes? I have Bruce's character posted. He is a Marine Medic, as you can see. Bob's character is approved...but needs a name. ;) She is a merchant/cargomaster with a bit of bridge skills. Greg, I know we talked about it, but I can't find your PC...could you send it to me again and I'll post him? IIRC, Greg's PC is a retired Scout with bridge/exploration skills. JR was thinking about an Engineer type with a touch of steward and/or gunner. Do you need some help with that? Earl, I haven't heard what sort of character you are working on, but as long as he can work on a small ship he'll probably be just fine. If you need help generating a character let me know and I'll help with it. We're getting started soon. Eris Akus

I think I can just role those after looking on the table in the spread sheet. I had a Sailboat Race to officiate and then it got warm and windy so I couldn't look at my computer. The concept: Bartholomew Cuthbert served several terms as a Marine (or in the Army) where early in his career he received a scar high on his forehead causing his eyebrows to be raised in perpetual surprise. Unfortunately for him, on his return from sick call awards formation was called and Bill Smimius, a smart ass poge from battalion admin, promptly dubbed him Bewildered Bart. The name stuck, as he says, "faster than a chamber gathers carbon," or "a whore hustles during fleet week," depending on what company is present. He once explained the experience to a new CO as "faster than a Zho can retreat" but the following week a whole fleet of'em descended from nowhere so he doesn't use that one anymore. ... I'm sure there'll be some more So being spoiled by the independence offered in a Fighting force, staying in with a bunch of peace time pencil pushers was out of the question. -- Earl F Hampton http://hamiii.sytes.net/index.phtml

I'm interested. I don't have any of the old LBB stuff so I'll just see what I can find on line over the next few days. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eris ReddochDate: Monday, January 8, 2007 10:05 am Subject: Re: [akus] The Game is dead, love live the Game! > Earl F Hampton wrote: > > Eris I'm interested. Derek, we'll go ahead and start sometime later this week/weekend. If you can't get your character to me by then, you can still join the group later. That shouldn't be a problem. Eris
