Captain Ctvrtnadzeh is as good as his word, and departs the bridge, entering the common area. "Good morning, everyone! I won't be long. I just wanted to get any show stoppers out on the table so I could tackle them, bring you up to date on our plans, and then get the hell out of the way so you all can do what you do." He looks around the room, and realizes that they are all there. "Dez, what are you doing here? I thought you said you were the night owlish type and loved the night shift." He grins. "Not quite the way you put it the other night, but we have some genteel people in this crowd. Merrin, you see any show stoppers? Dez? Anything you need to report that you need me to work on?" The engineering folks were the key here, in that without engines there was no lift, no jump, no travel. Getting the thumbs up from them, he continues around to the others in turn. "Again, anything that needs my attention?" "Doc?" "Bart?" "Sharda?" "Paris?" "Good," he says [presuming that there are no actual things that would skew their stated departure time], "that's really good. So then, let me bring you up to date." He turns on the display of the local jump-1 main, with the tentative route highlighted. "Here's our expected route from here, Glisten, to here, Wonstar. Crossing two subsectors to get there. We have a Jump-1 capability, so not a lot of opportunity to choose alternate routes as you can see. Sharda has done a bit of work on potential spots to run some speculative cargo, and some places to just haul whatever's going. More on that in a minute. "Paris'll fill us in on the basic necessities of life, food schedules, etc, and I'll work up a watch rotation for the bridge and engineering. Remote monitoring and all that. "Paris reminded me about the need to store weapons and all, since we are now a private merchant ship and the rules are a bit different from either the military or scouts." He holds his hand up. "I'm curious, who all has weapons, and what kinds?" "Bart, you've got the duty to ensure weapons are secured, and arrange for the security for weapons when passengers board." "And speaking of passengers... Our passenger, Lord Percy, is the son and heir of Baron Wonstar, and I believe, soon to be a principle in the Wonstar Trading Company, the owners of this ship. As such, I expect everyone to treat him with the respect that that entails. I do understand that he is a bit of a partier, and that he has gotten out of hand on ocassion. Let me know if there are any incidents, but I'm hoping to have him on good behavior. I know he *doesn't* want to head back to work, but that work is now calling him. Perhaps we can teach him a thing or two about his business, eh? "Which brings me to the business end of this jaunt. I hope that we can make this a profitable venture for all of us. The ship needs to be full of cargo and passengers, whenever possible, thereby providing the cash to keep the venture going. Paris, Doc, Sharda, can we carry other passengers this first leg, or would you recommend that we use this week to get our procedures down?" He waits for an answer. "Now, I don't yet have all the figures for the ship, but I do know that you all signed the standard boilerplate contracts for crewing the ship. And I thank you. I don't yet know if I'm cut out for this merchant business stuff, but I do like driving between the stars. If it is profitable, we may have jobs offered at the end of the run, and be able to continue working. What I want to do is make it profitable for us, regardless of how profitable it is for the company. Therefore, we will be running a trading and shipping concern on the side. I'm sure you are all familiar with the sort of thing. "We have a trader or two amongst the crew, and we have some financing to get us started. I will be purchasing whatever our trader can get us that should fetch the best price at our next stop. She'll handle those details, but......and there you have it. "Sharda and Bart, you've got taxi service for Lord Percy. He's staying at the Arbellatra Hotel, and he says its just himself as is coming along. Sharda has met him, so she's a little more familiar with him, and will assist in making his transition. Eleven hundred is when I said you'd pick him up, so that gives you a bit of time yet..." "Okay, what does anyone have for me?" he asks. Krikor Ctvrtnadzeh Captain Akus Moby The Count, MonteCristo@hotmail.com

The crew reported everything ready, or nearly ready across the board. "So, no show stoppers. Excellent. Right then! Doc, you and Paris have the task to get the sickbay stocked to the minimum level we need, then service the low berths and lay in the necessary provisions for a full complement of passengers. "Bart and Sharda, get Lord Percy and his baggage aboard. Then Bart, you've got the armory to get set up, and check the anti-piracy programs. And no, knuckles don't count. Knives, you make the call. "Sharda, after you get back, begin to see what we can get as far as speculative cargo, either for our next stop or the one after. If the profit potential is great enough, we can carry it an extra jump or so. Don't purchase yet, but see what we can line up. Also get a line on any freight, and any passengers. Merrin, she said something about getting a couple things tightened up a bit, you can handle that, then finalize that we are ready, and ensure we have been fully fueled. "Oh, Paris, you and Sharda see about when we should pick up passengers and freight or cargo. I'm thinking we may need a *little* bit of a shakedown before we really jump. Thoughts? Merrin? After the crew meeting, the captain contacts the Wonstar Trading Company factor to set up either a face to face meeting or a net meeting. Subject is financing... He also contacts the local Hortelez et Cie or a Sub-Sector/Regional commercial banking institution to also attempt to line up some financing. Krikor The Count, MonteCristo@hotmail.com

But heck, he'd given them *DAYS* to get moving and they had just sat there. > > Once the Captain turns away, Bart looks at Sharda, "Damn, this trip's > > gona be fun, aint it?" he says with a huge grin. > > > > Then in an entirely to loud whisper as they head to the hatch, "I'm >going to > > hurt something keeping a straight face." "Oh, Sharda," he says, "you have any contacts at Hortelez et Cie, or another banking concern? I'd like a line of credit..." Then he goes to call his good friend Hortelez. Sasha

OOC: You aren't going to get a megacredit loan, sorry. One hundred k, you can arrange, but you don't have the collateral, reputation, or backing to get more than that. To make a long story short, the best deal you can get is 100,000 cr short term loan from Hortelez et Cie. If others in the crew throw in with you you can get a larger loan, up to 400,000, but no more, and with some restrictions: 1. You have to reserve 18 dtons in the cargo hold of the Akus Moby for a shipment from Glisten to a certain party on Overnale. You will receive standard rates for the sealed cargo container and it will be picked up at the Overnale downport by a party who you will contact once you land there; 2. Interest is 3.6%, accruing at the rate of 1 cr. per every 10,000 c, or part there of, per day (that would be 10 c a day interest on a 100,000 loan); 3. The loan balance and interest is due on 100/1111 (today is 10/1111), payable atany Hortelez et Cie office (Colace is the suggested location to pay off the loan). Eris Akus Moby

Desdaemona wakes up sometime just afternoon, heads back to her cabin and freshens up quickly before heading down to the cargo hold and the gravity unit that's drawing a touch to much power. Desdaemona works in the cargo hold for 2 hours on the grav unit, throughly testing it for anything that could be wrong with it, even swapping it out for a spare in stores, and comes to the conclusion that the unit is absolutely fine...yet it still draws 3% more power than it should. Another two hours of work and Des is convinced that this grav unit is okay, too, but the computer still says it is drawing 3% more power than it should be drawing. Eris Akus Moby

Merinn, contacts a company that supplies fuel. Refined fuel costs 500 cr per ton, unrefined fuel (in the form of water) costs 100 cr per ton. The ship is 200 dton, so you will need 20 tons of fuel for a jump 1. You will also need to fuel the power plant for operations: 10 tons will give you 4 weeks of operations. So, Merinn needs to buy 30 dtons of fuel total. The cost will be either: 15,000 cr for refined or 3,000 cr for unrefined. You have a fuel refinery aboard, and you have the time. Merinn, notes that the total fuel tankage aboard the ship is 30 tons, so you will need to refuel before each jump, or will need to provide some extra tankage in the cargo hold. Hauling extra water to refine is easy enough to do, and having fuel reserves is a good safety measure, but it will reduce your carrying capacity for paying cargo. This is something Merinn might want to talk over with the Captain and trader. Other than placing the final order for the amount and type of fuel, loading it and refining it (if needed) the ship is ready to jump from an engineering point of view. Now, Merinn can seek out the Captain and talk to him about the fuel and whether he would authorize carrying extra unrefined (water) in the hold...or find Des and see how she is doing. Eris Akus Moby

Sasha agrees in principle and initiates the electrons to get the process rolling. Final amount of the loan to be determined with how much collateral is put up by the rest of the crew... He'll shoot the basics of the agreement to Paris' and Sharda's PDAs, and begin the process of filing flight plans, getting docking/orbital facilities as a contingent for when they have to be out of the maintenance berth, etc. Krikor

Ergo, there really aint an outburst. Greg

Paris already calmed him down, covering for the period outbursted over, therefore, no one's got issues. Ergo, guess who's not getting any tonight!
