Karen, I hope you don't mind me showing this to my players/GM's.

From Karen... I actually have a different solution in mind for mapping, as it happens.

Here's the result of about twenty minutes of work, ten of which was robbing the icons from various sites.

Take a look at these...

Yes, I did just release something that's been sitting in moderation forfreakin' ever. Technically, it was in limbo, because the Phoenyx doesn't accept multiposted mail anymore (if we're not the only one in the To line, we assume it's spam. Such are the times we live in), but I edited it a smidge, because I wanted something to test the web-based moderation system. Plus, you know, nudge the game a bit...

Take a look at these...

You can always go look at the Phoenyx to make sure there's nothing you're missing (and the on-web reading is functional, if a bit Spartan so far... I use it myself):

As a general rule, the Phoenyx is very good about mail delivery, though there's nothing we can do about silent discarding at the recipient's end (which is way too common these days).

With the beta software, though, I won't rule out the possibility we have a bug here and there, at our end.

Just found out that the little dojo around the corner from me

offers kendo...I might see about getting some of that in. Haven't done any fencing in decades...if I tried a lunge right now I'd probably disembowel myself.

Take a look at these...

Ahhh... I see... Well yes we'll definitely blame Eris then. I got your message about 30 minutes before I got Eris's.

For some reason I get an error message as the page is loading, if I leave the error message alone it loads the maps and I can drag the little shps about. If I click the error message before it finishes loading it crashes the whole thing out.

I'm assuming it's just a blank page with a map... nothing else going on there right?

For some reason I get an error message as the page is loading

Whenever you get error messages, you can drop me an email with the error text (and the browser you're using, though I can usually track that down in the logs). The map/chat stuff is all highly experimental (as in the message Eris quoted, I threw it together as a proof-of-concept), but I'd still like to know what goes wrong with it.

And no, it's not just a blank page with a map, exactly. It should look like this (in Firefox, at least):

the Library menu is rolled up - I unrolled it, and then the Snapshot library, and then took my screencap.)

We're a little behind in getting everything moved to the new server (if you see lag on the webpage, it's because we're getting hit by so many search engines we've filled our series of tubes - the new server has bigger/more tubes), but once we're there we'll do some serious testing, with Firefox and IE and Safari and such.
