18/1111 Overnale: Left Behind

As the crew departs, Paris begins her self-assigned tasks: ship's laundry, turning down and restoring the cabins to their typically Paris-Pristine condition and, after getting dinner going in the galley, takes a bottle of a bit more expensive wine upstairs and settles down across from Lord Percy with a backgammon set. "Good afternoon, Milord," she smiles gently at him, "I thought we'd spend some time, if you don't mind my being interrupted from time to time with ship's business."

Percy grumps, "Why didn't you allow me to to with the others?" But he doesn't turn down the wine she offers.

Paris smiled at him, pouring them both a glass of wine * and set up the backgammon board. "Because you've been cornering yourself in your room, drinking yourself into oblivion and being a poor host--you're the owner of the ship, and you would choose to represent yourself and your title--and, I might add, Percy, your world--as a bunch of boozers."

She handed him the dice. "I'm the ship's steward--and it reflects on all of us--I do like you, Milord, but I think we need to change your behavior." She took a sip of her wine and smiled kindly. "I think you'd rather talk to me than Lady Sharda."

*I had to correct a typo--it came off the fingers as 'whine' instead of 'wine'.

OOC: You sure that was a typo? ;)

Paris affected to not notice this little bit of rebellion in the otherwise sloven noble.

She handed him the dice. "I'm the ship's steward--and it reflects on all of us--I do like you, Milord, but I think we need to change your behavior." She took a sip of her wine and smiled kindly. "I think you'd rather talk to me than Lady Sharda."

"Bottle of wine and backgammon, yes, strip, no, I'm afraid that my contract doesn't include servicing the sexual needs of the clientele," Paris said, sitting back and crossing her legs demurely. "You should have checked over the contracts and rewritten those paragraphs if that's what you wanted."

She lifted her glass in a silent, smug toast. "Roll the dice, Percy, you're wasting time that could be used in beating you in this game."

"Well, I'm glad that you at least attempted a small show of appreciation," Paris acknowledged. "And you're welcome to play strip backgammon to your hearts content, my contract doesn't encourage me to do so with the passengers or crew."

"That's no fun!" Lord Percy complains, but it is with a good natured tone.

The pair of you play your games until it is time to hit the hay...
After Percy goes down in his typically alcholic haze, Paris, who had merely sipped occasionally on the same drink throughout the day, yawned and stretched, then proceeded back down to the crew areas.
She continued with the final load of pax laundry--including Lord Percy's unmentionables, adding more starch than what was particularly needed--and then checked her breads and other crew consumables.
Fresh rolls for morning, always a good thing...she meandered back to the cabin she split with Sasha, pulled on a robe and reentered the common area, curling up on the sprawling lounge seat with an old-fashioned hardback novel, and waited for the adventurous ones to return...
...then placed a call out, after checking boat rentals, looking for a deep-sea fishing junket for the following day, something to properly amuse Lord Percy. Bart, she was sure, would want to beat something to death with a large blunt object, and fishing seemed to be just the ticket in this case.
