19/1111 Overnale: Cargo Incident

It is an hour of sweaty work before the workers get down to the last few crates. As most of them have been carrying the crates down to the trucks a few have been hoisting the cargo up and stacking it in the trucks. It has occurred to Merrin and Bart that if all three trucks are filled with crates that the workers aren't going to have a ride out of here...maybe they can squeeze in, but otherwise they are going to have walk out.
Bart notes that the workers have been watching him as much as he is watching them as they move in and out of the cargo hold. Perhaps, that is a good thing. If they are paying attention to the man with the sword and pistol they might be less likely to try any pilfering...and they haven't so far.
As a group of three are lifting the third to the last crate, though, there is an incident. One of the workers, a woman, has the crate slip out of her gloved hands. The other three workers try to balance it, but fail and the crate crashes down with a loud thud atop the fallen worker and cracks open.
Packing material flies up from the broken crate, the woman lets out a scream, and workers scramble around the crate. Mirren's view of the accident is partially blocked by Killian, and the excelsior and scrambling workers make it hard for Bart to see exactly what is happening there either.
OOC: Des, you are still there...don't leave yet. :)

Bart billows in his best parade ground voice, "DOOOC," hoping it will be heard on the other side of the bulkhead. His eyes continue to roam the area, especially picking out those he's previously noted as leaders or stragglers with quick glances spared for those he knows are armed, but maintains his self imposed post.

Killian rushes over to the spilled crate. A few small boxes inside the crate have spilled out. On the sides of the boxes you can see the name of a popular consumer products company based on Glisten.
Everyone seems concerned either about the spilled boxes or the woman the crate fell on...neither seem to be hurt too bad and within a minute everything is moving again as if nothing happened.

Bart doesn't see anyone making threatening motions. They all seem concerned about the hurt woman or the broken crate. Within a minute it is clear that neither the crate, the cargo, or the woman are badly hurt. The cargo is piled back into the crate, the lid is pushed back down and the woman, limping slightly and rubbing her leg walks back down the ramp where Quirt gives her the evil eye, but doesn't say anything.

Des watches the 'incident' and sees what Bart and Merrin do, but she also *knows* that simple 'incidents' can be covers for more nefarious things. However, she doesn't *see* anything that leads her to think this is one of these times.

Des doesn't watch the incident instead she pays attention to the more peripheral individuals. The people furthest from the accident. She also tries to pay attention to anything Quirt and Killian might be up to signals they might give to the workers.

Yes, there are people on the periphery, but they are moving and Des has to look back and forth to keep an eye on them. And then there is Quirt and Killian...she doesn't see anything or hear anything that arouses her suspicions above the level they are at just from the accident occurring at all. Maybe that is what makes her feel suspiciously uneasy.
Then Doc bursts through the hatch behind and to your right, and you lose your concentration for a few moments...

OOC: Owing to the below...we'll say that Bart billowed that into his comm and Doc hears it inside the ship, because otherwise even Bart's below wouldn't make through the bulkhead and closed steel doors. :)

Doc arrives on the scene in the cargo bay as everything is starting to get back to normal. He sees a woman in an orange jumpsuit limping down the gangway to the tarmac rubbing her thigh. He sees Bart standing atop a large cargo container with Brown and Sons stenciled on the side. He sees Merinn standing next to an overweight man in a business suit next to a crate on the deck into which other people in the orange jumpsuits are piling boxes. He sees Des standing in the shadows near the inner door he just came through peering around intently.

"False alarm, Doc," Bart booms from the top of the boxes. Then in a more normal voice, but which would still carry easily, "The crate that landed on her didn't break her legs and squish her intestines out her ass like I thought," then after a short pause, "Better luck next time."

Issac is the only one that gets an "impression" of movement in the depths of the cargo hold. It is fleeting and gone in a moment. When he looks harder in that direction, he thinks he might have just been imagining it, because he sees nothing out of the ordinary.
The man wearing a suit seeing Issac's bag calls to him, "Doctor, would you come and look at this worker's leg?"
He points at the woman limping down the cargo ramp, "I think she is all right, but I would like to be sure."

try it on me :-) I want to watch Bart go all Marine on his weaselly little ass.
OOC: Here is where I roll...rattle, rattle...no he doesn't look like he is going to directly interfere with you. Not yet anyway...:)
The woman stops and turns, but says, "No, no. Is against the rules."
Her face is pallid and there is very little color in her lips. To Issac it looks like she is in a lot of pain.
Although she is looking at you, you get the impression she is looking over your shoulder rather than directly *at* you.
(Do we have commdots or comss of any sort on us or are we just relying on the ship's intercom?)
You've got commdots.
Then I've alerted Paris inside the ship that I'm going down to look at the injured woman.
OOC: A-Ok!
Paris gets Doc's short message that he is attending an injured woman at the foot of the ramp.

He turns to the guard and snaps "That woman is clearly in pain, and needs medical attention. *MY* rules say that I've got an affirmative duty to aid her. We're on Imperial soil. I'm helping her." He turns and walks towards the woman. "Don't worry. At the least I can give you something for the pain."

He looks at Issac coldly but doesn't say anything. He just turns his eyes to the woman.

She backs away from Issac at first, but one of her fellow workers takes her by the arm and says something in her ear that Issac can't overhear. At that point she stops resisting and allows Issac to examine her.
While Issac is examining the woman the uniformed man stays right there keeping a very close eye on everything Issac does...but he does not interfere.
The examination indicates she has a large bruise on her thigh, but no broken bones. She'll be in pain for a day or three as it heals, but that should be all there is to it.

Issac says, gently "You're lucky. This will hurt for a few days, and will turn glorious shades of green and yellow, but there's no broken bones."
Does he notice anything else during the examination?

No, Issac notices nothing else wrong with the woman, nor anything going on around her that really draws his attention. He has a serious, but still growing, dislike for Mr. Uniform...but he hasn't interfered.
By the time Issac finishes the rest of the crates have been unloaded from the ship and loaded onto the trucks. The workers are standing outside the trucks.
Once Issac steps back the woman joins the other workers and Mr. Uniform goes down the line, calling out names...checking the roster. There is a "Present" for every called name.

Bart hops a few boxes closer to the entrance once all the workers line up outside, but remains at his self imposed post until the trucks pull away.

19/1111 Overnale: Cargo Incident

Issac is the only one that gets an "impression" of movement in the depths of the cargo hold. It is fleeting and gone in a moment. When he looks harder in that direction, he thinks he might have just been imagining it, because he sees nothing out of the ordinary.
He taps Des' shoulder. "Des, I don't know, I think I saw something move back there deep in the hold. Maybe I'm just seeing things. It's really dark back there, and we're all jumpy. Can you see anything?"
The man wearing a suit seeing Issac's bag calls to him, "Doctor, would you come and look at this worker's leg?"
He points at the woman limping down the cargo ramp, "I think she is all right, but I would like to be sure."
Issac looks down and says "Sure, be right there." He climbs down and goes with the suit to look at the woman.
Issac is accompanied by the man in the suit. A weasel-faced man in a uniform with a neural baton at his belt is standing at the end of the ramp looking at narrowly at you, the limping woman, the suit, and the world in general...to you it looks like he's just itching to pull that baton out and slap someone with it.
"Wait!" the suit calls out, "Let's let the ship's doctor check you out, just to be safe."
The woman pauses, glances at the uniformed man, and then continues to limp toward the back of the trucks.
Issac addresses her, "Ma'am, it's all right, I just want to make sure your leg is ok. " and moves towards her.

The I've alerted Paris inside the ship that I'm going down to look at the injured woman.
OOG: Wondering if you were going to let anyone on board other than Isaac know...
"Injured what, who?" Paris questioned, her finger touching-barely-the small dott placed at the back of her ear, froen in mid-step in the galley. "Not one of ours, and is this a setup?"

"Best place for it," Paris commented dryly, "especially if you're trying to start an incident." She sighed. "I'll let the Captain know, back there in two minutes."
Paris unkeyed the dot and stepped back out of the galley--after placing everything into standby so as to not damage dinner--and tracked down Sasha, who was still on the 'net. "Sasha," she whispered into his off ear so as to not isturb his comm with the client, "Accident with the locals downloading cargo--I'm going aft to check on it, I think you should too."

Sasha holds up a finger, then what she said registers. "Right Mr. Brown. That is very interesting!" he says, standing up and allowing Paris to pull him along. "I will call you back when I have an arrival time... Cheerio!" He breaks the connection.
"Man, some people can talk! What do we have?" he asks following her.
Paris fell into step, to Sasha's left and about a half-step behind. "Apparently one of the local workers was injured--dropped cargo on themselves, either intentionally or accidentally; Isaac is working the case, but its still on our ship, and could be an issue later, Sasha."
The two crossed into the Cargo bay--the cargo was still being handled, with Merinn away from the access and Des at the far end of the bay.
"Well," Paris commented idly, "apparently we're too late for the excitement."
