[Cel] Question for the List

Okay. Since it was missed before in favor of the old topic here it is
again.

Okay. What would the game think of a Qaiyore players/GM (This also
includes Juuso and past players, and anyone else who has played an
important part) get together. I realises that this would be very hard
to plan, and may be expencive for some people. That is why I am asking
the list what they think of the idea.

[Cel] Question for the List

Okay this is location list that I know of so far.

Juuso = Finland
Kenny = Finland
Jason (Mir)= Utah USA
Joel (Burcancy) = NewWork, USA
Edward (Torphan) = Arazonia USA
M. Keaton (Eerith) = ? USA
Nathan (Vraa'al) = Utah, USA
Aaron (Arysia) = ? USA
Guillaume Ménager (Celpalar) = France

That is all that I know of at the moment. I know it would be really
hard that is why I am asking the list if they would be intrested in
doing it. If we get a yes then we can try and see what happens.

[Cel] Question for the List

Greetings !

The idea of the meeting is fun, so let's follow on. Since most of you
live on the other of the ocean, what a nice occasion to visit Paris, eh
?
Fortunately, I live there (that is, here !) and I'd be glad to receive
you ! My parents have a large house one hour from the airport, and we
already did the same for my sister japanese friends... so you are
welcome.
The only point is that your starting school and work, and I'm not sure
you're gonna be free any soon. I don't even consider moving myself: you
must be spread all over the States and as you will all have to move
anyway... Besides, for our Finnish friends it's a lot closer. Kind of a
midpoint. The other mid-point is Iceland which is a very nice country,
but I don't have a summer house there (neither a winter one, BTW).

So: I collect your reactions. If you are interrested tell me when and
how long.
For the pratical side, we can provide accomodations for many and we will
have conference space to discuss, draw our maps and so on. We may even
visit Paris...

Yours,

Guillaume

[Cel] Question for the List

Yes Paris would be a nice place, but I was also thinking Utah. One thing
about going to Paris would be the problem of Passsports and (Which are nto
cheap here in the US. But If we go thoug with this I say we chooses between
the two. I would not be suprised if Paris won though. :)

Also about when. I am thinking this will be a progect projected maybe for
the begining of next summer. Or another time before that when everyone how
watns to come is avaible. But lets give this about two months at the most
perform it happens.

So we have four people saying they would like to. One perosn who will not
be able to make it. And two places on the list for possible sites. (Utah
or Paris)

What does the rest of the list say?

Another convenient mid-point is New York. Of course, I do not have a
large house to offer and if I had to choose between NYC & France, France
is much prettier. On the other hand some people say the French can be
quite rude, but Guillaume has always been unfailingly polite and New
Yorkers can be rude w/ the best. :-)
If we are serious about this it might be better to plan for the spring
or summer when people have vacation and time to save and plan for this
trip.

I dunno what my situation would be next year and do remember, I am 16...17
on sept. First of all, depends on where and when and how much it will cost
me to get there and if my schedule lets me. Me going out of the country by
myself will be hard and mother would psych out if i do.

Okay. BTW Karen you are invted to if you would like to come.

Okay So seems like Utah is out. I don't mind. That means I don't have to host
it. : ) Um Lets not get to many cities suggested. Okay Options NY,
Paris. They both seem to be central locations. Okay um well say thoughs are
the cities on the list, and we will chooses between thoughts two cities. How
many people would be intrested in this and would be willing to put in some
effort to get it done. As it stands no one has aposed the idea and most have
given suggestion to get it running.

[Cel] Question for the List

Hi !
It's lovely to be working with youngsters ;-) They never doubt and are not caught
in the web of material problems !
So, if we carry on a NYC solution, and for early next summer, I guess I can cross
the water...
Still, if we all have to take a plane, it's gonna be pretty costy. So let's cut
down the costs. We shall have a max of things for free. Including lodging and food.
For the operation to be profitable, 5 days seem a minimum to start with.
Also, if we don't choose Utah, there is a risk some of us may want to tour the
place (just kidding, Jason !!!)... You can bet if it's NYC I'll spend an awful lot
of time in the Met museum... and you may want to see the Eiffel Tower I am looking
at thru my window...
Not being 16, I am most likely to come with a girlfriend: how are we gonna
stockpile those comodities ??? They usually don't like that much roleplaying games
(sorry, Melanie and Karen !).
If I was to build a plan, I'd say that the hosting partner, not having to pay for
the plane (and related fees like passports), should pay for minimum accomodations:
resting place (which shall be clean and with a shower...) and food (collective
family food is acceptable). If you are considering hosting the event, you shall be
able to cope with those requirements.
If we are started though, we can build up a game program, and game sessions and all
the stuff we want...

Let's brainstorm ! Ah, and Joël, thank you for noticing I am not that rude, though
I may be arrogant (all the blah blah on French attitude...), I won't reply by
saying that for Americans you don't look that dumb !

Kissing your fresh cheeks...

I personaly vote Paris. Hey it will proble be the only time I get to go to Europe and
have it cost and arm and a leg. Besides what a great Senior trip. As for the host
paying for hotel coast as well as food. Well that might end up being more expencive
then the airfair. So lets talk about that one some more. But definetly for early next
summer.

[Cel] Question for the List

Well I'm glad you didn't say that (LOL) ... I actually did spend a month
or two in Paris many years ago studying and thought it was quite a
wonderful city and I encountered very little attitude. Like NY it can
be a fast paced city and people may mistake the rushing around, trying
to accomplish things in a hurry for attitude. My only regret was not
having taken the opportunity before I went to learn much more French (&
the little I learned is now forgotten). I guess I should go just to
refresh my memory.
Guillaume subtly pushes for Paris. And his offer is more then
generous. If he can handle accommodations, food and a space for gaming
then I highly recommend Paris as the place to be. Reducing these costs
would be wonderful. I do think if possible, we should contribute some
monies towards food and other costs. I do not believe the host should
bear the entire burden.

Perhaps the next time you are not looking for dumb you will see
Americans

Kissing back

Thanks, but probably not. On t'other hand, the Phoenyx staff (that'd be
me and Carl) will most likely be at GenCon 2001... so that's another
thought for a gathering place. Milwaukee's a nice town for tourism even
if you're not into the convention thing (I like the dealer/art room and

I know many females that are interested in it :P but as for wives/girfriends
and so on of the male players, i dunno about them.
As for Melanie...she is a friend here in ottawa and i admit i am the one who
got her to this :P and i have nothing to do with her choice of Society.

WOuld be nice to develope a program to most of the work and dice stuff,
which would make things faster and more trusting... :P and maybe make
something that always updates the map, which i doubt we would be able to

Yes, smart enough to buy off us Canadian talents and of other countries to

[Cel] Question for the List

Bonjour !
As some of you appear to be interested in Jason's meeting, I shall
precise my proposition. As a tourist, I'd prefer go to NYC... but if we
select Paris, here's what I propose:
I live within Paris and my flat is large enough to host parties of 30
people, but I can't give shelter to more than 4 in correct conditions.
That led me to propose you a seminar in our contryside mansion, one hour
from the city. There it will be easy to host our "working" time, we have
convenient rooms for conferences and separate meetings. Think of it as an
informal summit between great powers...
As I said, this hosting is free for you... but it is not an hotel, it's
my parents' house.
If some of you come with wife and kids ;-) no prob there.
I admit with Joel than feeding 10 people (average expected) for a week is
not than easy, food being more expensive on this side of the Big Water
(being supposedly healthier...) , and my dear mother (I have one too),
won't let me feed you with basic stuff !
And, if Juha can come as he wishes (European Union), those coming from
overseas should inquire to their local french consulate of the required
formalities.
If we follow on the project, next is to set a week for it, then to plan
some extra game activities to legitimize the operation to our consorts
(parents, wives, boss...) like touring Paris or Versailles.
Then we will have to set a working frame for our gaming activities. I
have a long experience of boardgame conventions with negociations going
on for nights... Not sure it's the best way to go. That question is to be
raised, but I don't worry, there are always volunteers to play.
Remember, we are just dreaming together... But let's feed each other's
dream !

G.

PS: Louis, if you can't leave Canada alone, bring Melanie with you, it
will surely make your mother (and her's) much more confident... ;-)))

Melanie? there is her parents to deal with and my mother doesn't know about
Melanie. Melanie is a close friend, thats all. same age as me.
Anyway, the two main problems is money and when for me...as mother being
third. I don't live with mother anymore, but she is still financially
responsible for me...of course, she doesn't have too and i am legal age of
being on my own.

Ouch, reality strikes back :-/

Seriously speaking, the meeting sounds like fun, but I doubt very many
will be able to attend it. I'm definetly not sure I can, even if it is in
Paris (and if it's across the puddle in the US, the chances go quickly
down).

But still, even if only a few people manage it, I should say it's worth
the trouble (for them at least). So don't let reality stop you :)
