Well, even IH rules are more like guidelines than anything else. The GM
must always resort to good ol' common sense in the end.
Skipping dice is a bigger change that would certainly take the game a big
step towards interactive storytelling. If you discard the dice, there
suddenly is very much less uncertainty in the game. Any conflicting
actions must be resolved by GM decision alone - which is ok as long as the
players feel they can trust the GM. But it can be hard.
Aside from resolving the success of actions, the most important input from
the GM is to expand and evolve further the actions of the players. Act as
a kind of playback device or sounding board. This would become even more
important in a game with no dice.
Hmm... not being actually a player in the Alien game, I have really no
vote in the matter. Or even an absolute opinion about it. I'm just
pointing these things out.
