Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

[Ely] [Cel] Accepted ?

Lord Thalog,

I sent you a list of current players/societies on
Elyria from my home address. If you have not received
I will send it again tonight. You can choose any of
the other societies from the web pages except the
Sorcerer of the North and the Gezor. These are both
dead societies. And the Band of Stone has been shrunk
w/ the death of its leader (losing about 3 of its
regiments).
The web pages are out of date but I can bring up
to speed on the local situation fairly quickly.
The only society I would consider Imperialistic on
Elyria is the New Tyrean Empire, feel free to take
them if you wish.
On Qaiyoure the Cedonian Empire is on its last
legs and going to be reduced to its original kingdom.
After the current plotline expires it might be
possible to try and rebuild them to the status of
Empire once again. I do not believe there are any
other imperialistic societies left but Jason & Juuso
might be able to offer other suggestions.

Elyria Player Societies
Aloria
Aunderli
City of Nargash
Eleven Cities
Jumalla
Mythnir Fae
Order of Helix
Order of Mel
Reyclean
Taseleth
Turunas

Societies Not Listed on Web Page
Confederacy - loose collection of islands in the Ice
Bays (under consideration by another new player)
Kragan's Horde - a small band of northern barbarians
who have recently settled into a valley just north of
the Eleven Cities.

Dead Societies
Sorcerer of the North
Gezor

[Ely] [Cel] Accepted ?

Ok thanks for the list but i think that i would like to be the Tyrean
Empire, the name sounds good and i would like to run my empire in an
Imperialistic fashon.
Now is this like your god and you guide your empire like in Star Craft, or
is it like you are an actual person in your empire like the Emporer or King?

[Ely] [Cel] Accepted ?

Lord Thalog,

Please click on some of the actions on the web page
and read some of the mail on board. This will tell
you a lot about how to write actions.
Essentially, you can play whatever parts you want
in the Kingdom from lowly peasant(his actions will
usually not have much impact) to King and mage. You
write actions for your society, build forts, trade w/
Aerephal, put down the rebellion, etc. You figure
out your bonuses and minuses and the GM reviews your
actions and the bonuses/minuses. The GM as neutral
party throw dice, add everything up and make up what
the dice mean. Since it is your society, you can
change the definition of what happened but not the
result(how successful or unsuccessful it was). The
fleet failed in its battle. Say w/ a -3, a serious
failure. I might write that the fleet was burned and
sunk. You might change it to the fleet taking some
damage from the battle and seeing the battle turn
against them fled into a storm suffering even worse
consequences.
This is now your society you dictate what happens w/in
its borders. The GM is here to make sure that you are
not writing actions for other player societies, handle
battles between players & societies and to make sure
that your actions have a certain logic and are within
reason. (i.e. - in 2 years your mages don't suddenly
go from making illusions to cracking the world in
half.) Cultural changes and changing determinants and
other facets of your society take time.
No one can write actions for your society w/o your
approval. If you wanted to start a rebellion w/in
another player's borders, they would have to agree to
it. If you wanted to attack them directly that is
different. And if you conquered them, they could
still write actions for the rebel forces w/in if they
wished.
Read the rules and the actions of others and things
may become clearer. This game is a combination of
gaming and storytelling. To make this game most
interesting, you should have some interest in writing
about the various characters in your society to flesh
them out. Here, the fun is in the details. Again,
please read the rules, web site actions and board to
get the flavor on celendra and decide if it for you.
Also turns are typically about 20 days apart, so there
is a bit of down time.

[Ely] [Cel] Accepted ?

Lord Thalog & Daniel,

Attached is a list of players and societies, in case you wish to
review some more. Please review your chosen society and draft a
proposal for my review of what you hope to do w/ the society in the next
several years. This is a requirement in Qaiyoure that we are going to
adopt in Elyria also.
