Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

[Ely] [Cel][Actions: Reycelan 2845]

	These are Reycelan actions for 2845. I'm on vacation and so
offline for next two weeks. After that I'm happy to give any comments
needed.

	Nice summer to all,

Action 1: Strategic internal action 6/6: Skill enhancement
 Main determinants: Arts/Sophistication (Good)
 Difficulty: Very Hard (-2)
 Plus/minus:
 + Well established smithies with lots of work
 + Skillful teachers
 - Lack of resources because of Celmyr crisis

        Project is finished. If everything went smooth smiths present
something wonderful at the end of the year.


 Action 2. Strategic action 2/12: 2nd expedition / colony building started
 Main determinants: Resources (Good)
 Difficulty: Normal
 Plus/minus:
 + Preparations very well done (+2 last year)
 + Eager crews / colonists
 + Knowledge about southern waters & the place for the new colony is
   known
 + Lots of wood from fallen trees
 - Sheltering reef is gone and artificial breakers need to be built
 - Unexplored terrain
 - Southern waters are always dangerous

        When expeditionary fleet arrives on selected site it isn't what
the leaders expected... Tsunami which ravaged the southern coast of
Pyreth has wreck its havoc also on this once so lovely shore. Beautiful
trees and foremost the sheltering reef are gone. Left is only some
standing trees and chaos of splintered wood. Well, at least the
colonists have enough timber to start the building. Anyway colonists
vote if they should return or start the colony. Majority of votes are on
behalf of staying.
        Now the leader of the expedition orders the smallest ship with
good crew to scout little bit further and check if better place could be
found. He reasons that if the wave destroyed this place it could have
enchanced some other site...
        The bulk of expeditionady force starts building shelters and
a stockade around the site. While hills surround the valley it's still
good to be cautios. Furthermore small lookouts (with platforms for
burnign signal fires) should be built in the hills. In case of danger this
gives colonists enough time to prepare.


3. Strategic internal action 1/2: Start rebuilding Pyreth
 Main determinants: Resources (Good [-1 for this and next year])
 Difficulty: Normal
 Plus/minus:
 + Skills for disaster relief are good. It seems lot of disasters has
   been happened lately...
 + Enough manpower when legion is orderd to help
 + Wizards may help
 - Possibility of epidemic outbreak
 - Lots of resources already spent

        More resources are directed towards rebuilding of Pyreth.
Foremost in Awenors mind are his subjects and the wellbeing of the
kingdom. Also southern legion is ordered to help with the rebuilding.
This hopefully directs enough manpower to the effort. Fanatic outbreaks
are still to be watched and contained if necessary.
        King also asks help of Ren Harath. Awenor pleas the help of the
Companion because homeless people could catch some illnesses which can
easily cause an epidemic.


Action 4. Tactical external action: Diplomatic mission to Turunas
 Main determinants: Relations with Turunas -2
 Difficulty: Normal
 Plus/minus:
 + Maybe current rule is wiser than before
 + Opportunity to increase trade
 - Old hostilities may still cause disturbances

        Kings council has received information from mainland stating
that Turunas is again building warships. This seems strange because Senn
Cartages rule is ended. While some voices demand immediate act of force Awenor
and others quickly quell these hotheads. Awenor uses violence only when
it's an absolute necessity and this is not such case. Besides it would
Turunas too much to even try match Reycelan navy.
        Councils decision is to send an official delegate to Turunas
with orders to inquiry the meaning of this building process and against whom
these new ships are directed. Leaders of Turunas should be gently
reminded about the events which followed after New Hope started to build
ships. Piracy is not a problem so why to waste resources in building
warships. This area is peacful and should also remain in that condition.
        Diplomats should deliver a wish that the trade between
Reycelan and Turunas needs an improvement too. At least Reycelan sees trade
as the best way to heal wounds after the previous hostilities. Hopefully
Turunas doesn't see Reycelan as threat which it most certainly isn't. If
everything goes well relations should improve.


5. Key element action: Ren Harath plots
 Difficulty: Hard (-1)
 Plus/minus:
 + Fanatics are so disorganised that a skillfull wizard shouldn't have
   any problems.
 - Maybe they are too disorganised and infiltration is not possible
 - Unexpected events which could happen on Celmyr

        Ren Harath has seen the effect of fanatics on Celmyr and thinks
that he may use them as his tool. He decides to send one wizard with
skills in subterfuge and stealth in Celmyr and orders him to infiltrate
the ranks of fanatics. After he has achieved an important position he
should start directing the fantaics towards certain goals. These he
would know after the succesfull infiltration...

Walter,
            Reviewing the actions you submitted I note that your bonuses totaled
either have been zero lately or in the negative.  While I applaud the balanced
approach, you might want to consider altering your submissions to improve your
chances of success.  Also many of your actions do not include determinants which
could help your results.

the islands.  The reaction to this mission is the choice of the Turunas player,
please contact him. **
