A chain of unfortunate accidents (the son of Duchess Manund falls into enemy hands and accidentally dies -> the allied dukes become furious because they had a bad morning anyway -> etc.), could lead to escalation of the war. Another likely disaster would be famine (due to draught or pestilence). Slightly more sinister choice: an underlying sheet of Darkness surfaces, mixes with drinking water in some of the cities, and drives half of the population raving madmen. (lesson: don't drink water, drink wine). (business opportunity: some enterprising young men/mages store the water in tightly sealed bottles for future use...) The choices are: war, famine, or the Black Well Water (tm). Joel, you're the GM, so you get to choose :) juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
Juuso,
I would be reluctant to kill the new heir.
Although, it might be more interesting to kill the
Duchess herself, then the leader of Kragan's Horde
becomes revealed (or not) as the father but in case
could be appointed Regent by the Duchess just before
she dies. That should shake up the Eleven Cities.
Escalation of war is good.
The Black well Water is an evil idea. :-) & I like
this one also. It would cerainly accelerate the Queen
of Nightmares timetable. (maybe too fast?)
They are all excellent suggestions. Do you have a
preference? I am torn.

It's unlikely, but to kill the Duchess just as a plot device seems rather harsh. > becomes revealed (or not) as the father but in case > could be appointed Regent by the Duchess just before > she dies. That should shake up the Eleven Cities. Definetly. But accepting a former barbarian (& very recent bitter enemy) as a Regent... well, that does not fit well with by perception of the 11 cities. > Escalation of war is good. Yep. But the way things are progressing, you can have that anyway in a few years. Then again, maybe not. > The Black well Water is an evil idea. :-) & I like > this one also. It would certainly create much potential for the QoN. > They are all excellent suggestions. Do you have a > preference? I am torn. At the moment I'm biased toward the BWW. But that just me falling in love with my own idea. And you'd still have to choose which city it hits: Myraen, Merelbar, Manund, Falmyth, Emberath, Lantohar and Blackburg are the choices. Each has it's own set of interesting implications :) I'd say, let the dice decide. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
And the lucky winner of the BWW prize is ......drum roll..... Lantohar. Have fun writing. Joel ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
