| Action 1: Fearing a coup, Duke Iyan of the Crusaders makes moves to
| strengthen his position and attempts to both silence dissenting voices
| and rally his supporters for the conflict he feels is coming.
| Actor: Duke Iyan/the Crusaders
| Prime Determinent: Consent (Poor-1)
| Difficulty: Hard (-1)
| Mods: -- weak due to lost war
| + nobles see few viable alternatives to Iyan (better the devil
| we know...)
|
-1-1-1+1+(0-1+0+0)= -3
After expending considerable effort, Iyan finds that his position remains
just as exposed and the dissidents just as loud as they were at the
beginning of the year. He is consolled only by the knowledge that the
situation did not worsen.
| Action 2: Meanwhile, Regent Alvar III atempts to (re-)establish a power
| base among the nobles as he prepares for the conflict to come as well.
| Actor: Regent Alvar III
| Prime Determinent: Consent (Poor-1)
| Difficulty: Hard (-1)
| Mods: --- currently a non-entity in the political pwoer structure
| + traditional authority
|
-1-1-1+1+(-1+0+0+0)= -3
Possibly twarted by Iyan's actions or simply by the inertia of the
situation, Alvar as well finds the year's efforts to have been largely
futile.
| Action 3: At the same time, the (still underground) Guardian faction
| musters its own supporters. One way or another, Duke Iyan's reign _must_
| end...
| Actor: Duke Danan/the Guardians
| Prime Determinent: Consent (Mediocre 0)
| Difficulty: Hard (-1)
| Mods: -- discredited prior to the war
| + some nobles (particularly those who lost territory in th
| epeace treaty) see the Guardians as they're only hope to regain it
|
0-1-1+1+(-1-1+1+1)= -1
While Iyan and Alvar see their support slowly slipping away, the Guardians
are only marginally more successful.
| Action 4: Continuing its non-recognition of the surrender of territory in
| the peace treaty, the Asagmari front continues raids into Saragor. These
| are not full scale engagements, but merely small scirmishes, with the
| ultimate goal of forcing Saragor to retreat from "occupied Haran"
| Actor: the Asagmari Front
| Prime Determinent: Military Force (Great +2)
| Difficulty: Normal (0)
| Mods: + high morale from crushing victory over Razanian Front
| + fighting for what they see as their homeland
|
+2+0+1+1+(0+1+0-1)= +4
The Saragorian position continues to weaken in the face of Asagmari
aggression. Baring unforeseen circumstances, it begins to become clear
that, though it may take time, the Saragor can be forced from Haran.
(Feel free to expand on the details of any of these actions and their
meanings to the society.)
