Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

[Cel] [Ely][Nomia]

Hey Paul,

I am going to look over everything this weekend. I have to think about the
Rock Nomes and the Lok Nomes.

Gills might be a little too much...I could see them becomg fantastic sailors
and having a great affinty for water...being able to hold thier breath for a
long time...and having water magic that would enhance this ability...gills
are a stretch. How and why did the Rock Nomes come back from the
Dagorthoria?

How would Blue Dragons and northern humanoids interbreed? Why would they
want to? Why would these offspring look like nomes and be nomes?

Also, I am having some trouble with the relatedness of the sub species.
What do they have in common? With such different origins I a wondering how
they can be one society.

I do like the Brick Nomes and Shaw Nomes. I just need some more detail and
logic behind these "sub-races" being one society.

Gills weren't critical to the concept, which was
amphibious nomes. They left Dagthoria aboard a single
galleon, in search of a life in the promised land.
When they got there, they discovered it was one of the
islands.

Blue dragons have just enough magic in them for them
to be able to turn into a Shaw Nome once every 500
years, most don't bother, but those that do tend to
rape a female from the local village, the result is a
creature with Nomish and other blood, the Lok Nomes
are descended from those who married other mixed blood
nomes over at least five generations.

I see your point, they aren't technically a single
species, but the societies have developed a symbiotic
relationship, so that in practise they are one
Society.

As I said before, they started off as five dispart
societies, but have become totally interdependant over
the years of the "Great March", as they call the
emigration from the ancestral lands of the Shaw to
Nomia, where the Lok had been gathering Nomes of all
creeds and had even hoped to include Dwarfs.

[Cel] [Ely][Nomia] Addressing your concerns

Okay Paul,

I've given it some thought and I think that we will just start out with your
society having the Lok, Shaw and Brick nomes. The Rock nomes are just part
of the nome mythology at this point. How many Lok nomes are there? I would
like to hold thier numbers down. Also it sounds as if they have not really
integrated into nomish society, yet. I think that that will work out and
game play intersting ;)

Sorry I haven't got back sooner, but my computer's
been down. The Lok were originally about 30 but I
think that's still too high, how about if the Lok
Gnomes consists of two adult males, two adult females,
two adolescences (one of each gender) and two children
(again one of each), that will make them a really
small fragment, as there were less than 1000 total
nomes (I think it's still about 16% of the origninal
population, I remeber stating at one point that there
were 500, although weather I actually sent that to the list.)

[Cel] [Ely][Nomia] The legend of the Rock

The Rock nomes are just part

As Oasen is the Rock Gnome Language, it is only as
much a language of Nomia as Klingon is a language of
Earth.

Anyone (player in either game or lurker) feel up to
contributing to the legend of the Rock Nomes, let's
make this part of the mythology totally colaborative,
so that we come up with a group effort, at least five
different people (including me and Eric) need to work
on it. Both Eric and I will have the authority to
overrule anything to inappropriate.

Key points:
Dwarves set sail from Dagthoria in a Single Galleon
They went in search of the promised land
The promised land was one of the islands
Once there they evoled into the Rock Nomes
Rock Nomes are amphibious
Rock Nomes are good sailors

A start:
The Dwarves set sail on a storm tossed sea, they left
the simple pleasures of Dagthoria behind in search of
a new life in paradise.

...

They found paradise, an island, an were content to
live there and sail the ship to neighbours, so as to
trade for what the island wouldn't grow.

...

...

Can you continue or finsih it? That is my challange to
the list.
