Hi Everyone. Well it has been a couple of busy days for me. And i hope everyone is doing fine. I am glad to hear we have had a productive few days so now its time to get things going i believe. So lets get started by welcoming our newest players to the game. Lois (Solomon) and Geoff Bonn and Paul Corrish and Help them with any ??? they may have. M. K. Since i am not aware of which societies are available for play i would like to know if you can list the available ones for everyone. I would not want to offer a society for play if someone else is out of town right at this time. Joel has informed me of which society he is Playing (I play East Torphan on Qaiyoure. In it's later years to became know as "The Burcancy" Ibrahim has Requested to play the Kaeir society . Jusso Wonderful but i feel that placing you some where would not be a fair decision on my part you look through the game and choose a society. Mellian Since there has been no voiced objection to you returning to the game i feel a second chance might be in order. (( However i offer a word of caution Play nice!!)) enough said. I would also like to request you not select the same society that you previously played start fresh somewhere else on the continent . Now that thats all been said lets get playing. For all the new people please Take a look at the world and read through some of the societys see which one may appeal to your liking. Then submit a write for a proposal and send it to the list please Paul i think it would be best if you selet a society already in the world of qaiyore. I dont feel introducing a new society at this moment is really appropriate. I think for everyone involved it would be wise to select a society bordering somewhere along the in land sea of qaiyore. The submissions i already have tend to lean towards this area. Lets try to get this done about the end of this month so we may start 1436 around the first of April And Finally M. K. I think i would prefer to change my decision to playing one of the free cities Societies instead of the terebuani i will submit my write up to the list as well for your consideration. Well at thus end i think i have covered everyone so please if i have left anyone out please let me know at your earliest convience regards Rick ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
I'll try to have the list of available societies done in the next day or so. It will actually be faster to prepare a list of societies NOT available (and obviously, those spoken for below by other players are no longer open). Two quick questions. 1-How shall we resolve turns? Should I do them, leave them all to you, let you do them and then give comment, etc.? 2-Beginning of the year events. Do you want to do them or shall I? Quite honestly, I rather enjoy that part of things, especially since it gives me the opportunity to keep Mir and the Eerith up to date and relevant in the world without overplaying them. God bless and keep you all in this time of war. MK ----- Original Message ----- From:To: Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 10:56 AM Subject: [Qai] [Admin] Welcome 1436 is approaching soon > Hi Everyone. My goal with the Razanians would be the same as Cedonia...to unite. Only difference that i would have to start from square one like i did with the Razanians, and there is no real threat, like Aryisa was to the Razanian Kingdoms, to Cedonia. As for anywhere else, there is no Society close to Midsea i can seriously relate to or really all that interest in playing with. Razanians are like the most detailed and thought out of all of the societies, and would be waste for someone who is familiar with them not play them. Besides, I really keen in following up on the Airship idea, which will get the Razanian Coast involve in the bigger stage, instead of being isolated and fight among themselves. -Mellian ...not arguing, just making my last bid to have the Razanians again... ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
My honest opinion is that introducing an Airship would trigger a growth of industrialism in Qaiyore, and I'm not sure if that's the goal here. I think that the game world has been planned to be almost stuck in the Middle Ages. So... I'm not sure. - Geoff ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
Again, to encourage player interaction you might consider limiting the geographical area to start. Please let me know if I should continue w/ East Torphan(Burcancy) or pick another society. There is already a growth of industrialism for producing Naval ships, military equipment and weapons, massive construction projects, and etc in Qaiyore. Also keep in mind that this is a Fantasy, as well as an Alternate Earth, gmel, so Qaiyore isn't your typical Middle Age thing. Something i kept pointing out in the past when i am thinking up actions, doesn't make sense to strictly define Qaiyore in a real life history of the middle ages.. Anyway, the airship i envision is simply a ship with a zepellin balloon with propellors instead of Sails and rudder...which is quite possible to construct with middle age tech. -Mellian > My honest opinion is that introducing an Airship would trigger a growth of > industrialism in Qaiyore, and I'm not sure if that's the goal here. Firstly, sorry for my extended absence. From now on I'll attempt to check my e-mails at least weekly Secondly, if we do still need a GM, I'm still prepared to take on that role. Either way I'd like to play as Tanimbar, either this or next turn (if it's viable this, otherwise next) which the websites says is available, I won't vary it from the website version except to correspond with any secret information the previous GMs are previous to and visitors to the site are not. If appointed GM, I don't see too many problems with the balloon idea - there are even people with balloon-related titles on the other continent although they were intended to apply to gliders, which I feel research into should be a perquisite of the balloons. Just two more things: I'd like to make everything on this list confidential to list members, but displayable on website with poster permission. I'm assuming I'm actually over stepping my authority - Juha (did I finally get it right?), can you authorise this, since I think it ought to be done with Moderator (i.e. your) Authority. This is in line with the fact that some people explicitly state it in their signatures, I feel it should be implied, although the other part of most of those signatures. By law I am not allowed to show political bias or subscribe to any mailing list that shows such bias. Therefore I'd like to make discussing politics a two-strike offence. The first time, you get a warning, the next time after the warning, you have to leave the list until you can stop posting political message. Again, I feel this is a decision for the Moderator. ===== Professor S. A few years back, I used to play in both Qaiyore & Elyria (Cedonia & Keland), but real life intervened, & I had to give it up. That said, I'd enjoy a chance to get back into the game, perhaps see if I can't put Cedonia back together again, or at least return it to some semblance of an organized nation-state. The impression I get of the current situation in the 'Empire' is that it's rather like the mess that was the Holy Roman Empire, divided into scores of petty principalities. Anyway, would there be any objection to my taking up the role of a Cedonian faction leader trying to either rebuild the Empire or carve out a new kingdom? Everyone please note I can be contacted at thomas_silverfish((at))yahoo.co.uk or wiglar-owner((at))phoenyx.net To get these to work please replace the ((at)) with the @ symbol I haven't had any replies from Mellian or Geoff, so I've e-mailed the address each of them last sent to the list from, as well as the list with this. Geoff, Mellian, please confirm your intrest, psedonym and society. Michelle, I'm talking about running Qaiyore, I don't think there's a Elyria GM out there at the moment but your welcome to join Qaiyore as any unclaimed exsisting society. Andrew, of course I don't have any problems with you running your old society of Cedonia, although I am playing as Tanimbar, a former part of their empire, so there may or may not be a need to have our secondry GM (M. Keaton) run your moves, it's really up to how well he feels I'll be able to handle the situation (probably best to start with me as your GM but switch if there are major problems). Since it's such a long time since moves were submitted, can I ask the people to either confirm the move by posting a link to it's entry in the archive or submit new moves. Can I also ask those of you who've not submitted moves but have confirmed your society details to submit your moves. Since there are so many of us posting, I won't be closing this year on Sunday 14th, but will be closing it on Sunday 21st at 10am BST (GMT+1), all moves should be submitted by then, I'll process them between then and when I open submissions for the next year. Updated and corrected list: (Please note that I've added PS to Player Societies, NPS to Non-Player Societies and ? to Societies that are requested but not confirmed. Oops, sorry Joel, I've just realised I've spelt your societies name wrong. Everyone Joel is playing as East Torphan aka the Burcancy. And I don't think I need players to actually e-mail me the links, it seems it was only Joel who'd replied anyway and I've copied his move into my next message.> > Since it's such a long time since moves were > submitted, can I ask the people to either confirm > the > move by posting a link to it's entry in the archive > or > submit new moves. Sorry, but what game are you talking about GMing, Qaiyore or Elyria? I was in the midst of planning a society for the Elyria game when the GM disappeared. If it's to be started up again I'd still like to join in. I feed from the dead. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! Mellian, Which empire just collapsed after the last huge battle? Why not take that society or part of it and try and rebuild the empire. That would give you plenty to do. :-) Joel Mellianwrote:> Mellian Since there has been no voiced objection to you returning to the game > i feel a second chance might be in order. I would also like to request you not select the same society > that you previously played start fresh somewhere else on the continent . > but, I love the Razanians so much, and have so many ideas for them :( my second choice is Cedonia, and they are pretty much in a similar position as the Razanians....all divided up, fighting each other and so on... --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Why not take that society or part of it and try and rebuild the empire. That would give you plenty to do. :-) The Cedonia empire, which is currently divided into various factions lead by various Generals ever sense the Dark Elves successfully kidnapped the emperess. I would be rebuilding and uniting with the Razanians as well.... so the only difference between my two chocies is the size of the society, level of technology, one i have more room to mold to my view while the other will past the stage of constant warfare and well on their way to unite. Both societies have a lot of possibilitis for sure, but don't to face to much internal warfare....unless the Moderator can quickly resolve some general actions for the missed turns since the last player. Of course, I request that for both my choices :p also really depends on which area of Qaiyore want to group the players together... -Mellian ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.

Hmmm... obviously Mellian has a lot of ideas for Razanians, and would be a very resourceful player. Of course that may be both a blessing and a curse: the latter in the case when the player pulls continuously new stuff from thin air to support his/her society. Here's my idea: I could take on one of the Razanian parties: maybe Aryisa. Between us, Mellian and me could play out the unification of the coast (or not, as it may be). That way, I could be a check to Mellians "creative" forces :), and we could get some player interaction on the coast side. Alternatively, I could play the adversary role: ie. the Aixelsydan. Of course, I could first play Aryisa (for example), and then later start to play Aixelsydan. Regarding the airship: well, as a balloon type of thing, why not. Remember that the air balloon were invented in Europe in the 18th century, and it was only a curiosity for a long long time. Whether or not it can be industrialized, or used reliably in travel (as the zeppelins between the world wars) is far, far to the future. My suggestion is to let the Razanians have their balloon, but load it with heavy difficulities. That way it can remain an interesting peculiarity (a spice) without any revolutionary implications. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
