This is one of those rule changes I talked about To encourage descriptive writing and prose, I'll take the fudge points into use: for every piece of prose/ society descriptions you email to the list, I grant 0-3 fudge points. These can be used to effect dice rolls: for 1 fudge point, you can preset one dice to not be -1 (ie. be 0 or +1), for 2 fudge points, you can preset one dice to be +1, etc. So to ensure a roll of +4 for *one* freely chosen action, you must gather and spend 8 fudge points. Everyone starts with 0 fudge points. A decent write-up will earn you 1 point. A great write-up will earn you 2 points. 3 points is reserved for the truly magnificient. A weak piece (or a decent piece with lousy grammar) will get you thanks with 0 points and a suggestion to develop it a bit further. Each month, I'll present a common theme on which people are invited to write on. The first theme is: "From 1418 to present: what happened after the Sinari war". (This is for my benefit, as well as for anybody else who reads Keaton's book, and wants to take a look at what happened then.) Concentrate on your own society. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
Look I really want to start playing this game but I want to start my own society. If you could give me the basic and advanced criteria for a society creation sheet to work with I could in turn give you one of the best written societies you have. If this is not possible I would like to become the leader of a society on the southern shore of the midsea. Either way please get back to me as soon as possible. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! The thing is, it would have to fit in with the rest of the world, and its history. >If this >is not possible I would like to become the leader of a >society on the southern shore of the midsea. > Well, if you want something primitive, there's Parglug which is an NPS at the moment, so that's available. As a more advanced society, Videssia is also free. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
I've decided to not make a society but to shape one. However I would like a society that is not too religious, fairly technological, monarchy, and somewhere near an ocean if you can help me find this I would be very greatful. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Well, there are several options. Videssia is perhaps not the right choice - it's not a monarchy, and its hatred of monarchy and magic is close to religious fever - but there's Zelkor, Taltheran, and Aixelsydan, or even Tana if you're looking for something different. Joel also said that he might be willing to give Burcancy (=East Torphan) to someone else, but I'm not sure about that. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
The Burcancy probably fits Rollin's criteria pretty well and if he would want to take over the Burcancy I will go play something else. Has Rollin looked at Celpalar it might be another option? It might be fun to switch, I've always wondered about unleashing the Torphan Empire. :-) Of course, another society might be better instead of going for another large potentially continental war. Ah, but have you thought what else you could do with a whole empire? Violence is such an easy option. How about turning them into a unrivalled cultural power: poetry as obligatory subject for all military officers, high offices given to those with the most artistic expression. Or... have you ever read Ian Banks' Player of Games? I'm kind of intrigued by a society where all positions in society are determined how well you play an extremely complex game. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
What about Tanimbar that's really something I can work with I can have a whole civil war and shit Ooh it would be sweet. Let me know what you think. Thank you. No, not Tanimbar, because that's a player society at the moment: it's Paul's. Although we haven't heard from Paul for a while now, I still will not give Tanimbar to anyone before a few months has passed. juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
Actually to turn the entire Torphan Empire towards war would probably take a lot of work. The internal politics in such a rigid society are huge so it might be many years before it comes to fruition, although a fraction of the Torphan forces going to war would keep several countries busy for awhile. And no I have not read Ian's book.
