Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

[Cel] [Rul] Expansion by Conversion

I'll just note that Exquaestio has grown from a population of what? 1000 or so? to 3328 over just a few years. In comparison, the Ka'Shari have grown from roughly 5500 to 5700 in a similar amount of time (largely through normal population growth) -- and we *have* made some efforts to make converts. None of which has had any significant success.

Of course, we don't have Exquaestio's religious sophistication (although we aren't /un/sophisticated, either) and we have some significant cultural differences, but I'd say that any religion attempting to gain converts is going to gain more and more cultural incompatibilities as they get known and noticed by those they're recruiting /from/. At least we aren't saying the gods others worship are false/inappropriate/bad/whatever in any way -- just not the ones used here.

I don't know if this helps or not. It's just my observations. IMO, the Ka'Shari *do* have some of those unnoticed negatives that you are wondering about (and why I wanted some of our Wanderers to learn from your techniques). So don't feel singled out...

It's very much harder for Ka'Shari to make any converts, because they
are (except for the shipyard) a travelling people. A few youths might
skip on board, but that's it. Exquaestio is a more traditional religion,
operating where the people are.
