Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

[Cel] [World] Exquaestio Holidays

Exquaestio celebrates three specials holidays every year.

The Festival of Becoming occurs in the spring shortly after planting and
lasts from dawn to dawn. The Festival is supposed to remind people of
goals, destinations, and things rarely seen.

The Feast of Thanks is a post-harvest festival taking place after the
harvest has come in and preparations have been made for winter. The Feast
lasts from dawn to dusk, and is a day for recognizing one's blessings
and the efforts of people throughout the previous year.

The Winter Memorial is the most solemn holiday of the Ministry's year.
Taking place in the depths of winter, it begins at dusk and ends at
dawn. It is a day for people to remember their ancestors and other
departed who affected their lives.

I'd like to solicit opinions on the sorts of activities that might be
held during each holiday. For example, if materials for kites are
available (are they BTW?) kite flying would be a common activity during
the Festival of Becoming.

Other Thoughts?

As far as kites go, you need string, wood, glue, and either silk or
paper. I think kites may be possible. Certainly in Torphan, anyway.

Speaking of Torphan, I'v had some thoughts about them which I'll put
down in another post.

[Cel] [World] Burcancy Retiring

Gentlemen,

It has been a wonderful pleasure to play on this world w/ you. And I am always astounded by the creativity I see in all your writings and your thoughts. And most of all by the energy and the light that emanates from all of you. For that is truly magical.

Although, I do enjoy this game, there are other things I feel I must truly devote myself to. So not only will I retire from playing Burcancy this time, but I am going to unsubscribe from the phoenyx list, so I will not be drawn back.

It has been a wonderful pleasure to play w/ you all and on this game. Maybe you all continue to have fun and create wonder and excitement. Be well and keep smiling.

Ah well, all things must pass. It was a privilege to have to stay for as

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I will miss this game and currently I am just not able to give it the time and effort it properly deserves. And while it would be nice to watch from the list, it is too easy to get involved so at least for a while hopping off the list seems best.

It is also a great juncture for someone else coming along to take over the Burcancy if they want. W/ the King retiring they can create a new generational cast of characters and issues.

It has been great fun. Good luck to everyone both in and out of game.

A natural time for presents, then?

Hmm... how about borrowing the easter procession from the orthodox.
Everyone takes part, they go round and around the church for several
hours, I think (don't trust me on this, though). Happens during
the Easter; it breaks the pre-easter fast.

Naturally.
