Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

Action 3: Aid to Saltrim

Weight: Single

Description:

Pursuant to the agreement reached last year, the Cedonians send out a
caravan from Gomel to Saltrim. The caravan consists of critical parts for
the construction of siege weapons to be mounted on the city walls of
Saltrim, and trained Cedonian military engineers to supervise the
construction of such weapons. The caravan is also accompanied by a very
large military escort, a force consisting of 500 Selarian cavalry, a mix of
horse archers and lancers. The commander of the military escort is ordered
to ensure the arrival of the caravan at Saltrim at any cost; the Cedonians
will not tolerate another embarrassment at the hands of the Merchant's Guild
in Pran.

Difficulty: Normal. The large military escort should act to dissuade
bandits; given the geography, the caravan will be vulnerable to interception
by Pran for only a short time.

 

Action 4: Integration of Vizinia

Weight: Single

Description:

With Villard, the former king of Burcancy now serving as Prince of Vizinia,
the Cedonians start making preparations for integrating Vizinia into the
United Provinces. Important members of the local Vizinian nobility,
scholarly, and merchant classes are to be selected to serve as interim
members of the Regency Council. Villard, like the Duke of Caladyn, is an ex
officio member of the Council. The new Vizinian Councilors will not be
voting members until 1450, when the next election will take place. At that
time, Vizinian nobles will take their places in the Council's Circle of
Nobles, and the Vizinian people will elect their members of the Commoner's
Circle.

Difficulty: Easy (+1). Villard's local popularity should make things easier.
However, the actual election itself in 1450 will likely be more difficult.

Here are the results of Cedonia actions 1447:

*Interpretation:* Finally, the recruiment is starting to pick up speed.
Despite being tired of the wars of the last decades, the steady income
from legion service is nothing to sneered at. The recruiment is further
advanced by a hugely successful small comedy "The Military Man" played
by travelling troupes all over Cedonia.

*Results:* The caravan is attacked en route, but the large escort
drives the attackers off after taking some casualities and losing
some of the cargo. The caravan arrives to Saltrim and received
initially with open hands. However, some soldiers in the escort
feel much too free with the reception; they rape some local women,
and a riot ensues. The cedonians are forced to leave the town
immediately.

*Results:* It is not easy to find suitably minded people for the
Council, especially when selecting someone means leaving the
others out. The most popular choices are not that favourable
to Cedonia.
