Hello, my name is Douglas Sharp. I have received permission from Jason and Juuso to play Tanimbar. They have ask me to send this email to everyone outlining my long term goals for the country. Being that it has been 40-50 game years since anyone has played that country, the old King, Hector, has died. His Queen, Helga, is still alive. Their son, Victor, took the throne in 1450 at the age of 25. Three years previous to this, he was married to Katrina, a princess from Orasari. Then with help of Mir and East Torphan, I will begin to expel the goblins occupying the interior of the country. As this is successful (hopefully to the point of annihilating the threat), I will begin to rebuild the ancient cities to be able to exploit the resources (farming, wood production, mining). I then will use these raw resources to improve my cities and way of life, as well as increase my influence, both politically and economically, in the Midsea. Yes, excellent news! And Tanimbar is close enough to other active societies to be involved in regional affairs (watch out for Mir next door hint hint). King Victor is married to an Orasareni princess? An interesting change to political relationships in the SW. cheers, Ibrahim The Green Republic of Kaeir Andrew Janssen wrote: >Hooray! According to the old webpage. The Tanimbar queens must always come from the Tanimbar city of Orasar (on the page it says the people of the city are called the Orasari, I final mysefl just noticed that.) And the Kings from the Tanimbar city of Athelar. So actually it is fairly statues quo in regards to that is what happend every generation. I understand it to be part of the balance of power between the three cities of Tanimbar. Jason Heaps Ibrahimwrote: Yes, excellent news! ah... my confused mistake. Thanks Jason. But an active Tanimbar should add an additional depth to the game. I look forward to you playing Douglas. Have you looked at the actions from the last few turns? To summarize: the goblins in the interior of Tanimbar have no association with the goblins raiding the edges of the country. Mir's actions drastically increased attacks by the local goblins and Tanimbar is now fighting two separate wars. (Exquaestio had nothing to do with leaking Mir's plans to the local goblins BTW, they're trying to encourage peace. Unfortunately, they don't know who _did_ leak the plans.) One of my actions for this turn is to improve relations between the Tanimbar humans and goblins so that Tanimbar can deal with the real threat. > As this is successful (hopefully to the point of annihilating the > threat), Exquaestio will not support genocide, and one human in 260 in Taltheran is a member. > I will begin to rebuild the ancient cities to be able to exploit the > resources (farming, wood production, mining). Now, first of all, there are no goblins raiding the edge of my country. The goblins in East Torphan are no longer there. That's why Mir and East Torphan are starting to help me. The goblin raids I'm worried about are coming from the interior goblins. That is how the goblins found out about the war plans with Mir and East Torphan. While some people may have started trading with the goblins, the government would not have for this reason; Doing so would accept these creatures as a independant country( this would in effect be giving up a large portion of my nation, which would not be popular with my people or the other Midsea nations), not as the invaders they are. They will be treated as invaders, which is to say, they will leave or they will be forced to leave( whether they pick up and move out or they are killed, either way their gone). If Exquaestio makes strong objections to this, then Exquaestio will be banished from Tanimbar. The membership is like .005%(based off population numbers on the website for 1458) and so Exquaestio has no political influence. While some of the members may leave, it is likely that most will stay because this is their home. Even if the entire membership were to leave, it would have little effect on my country. The areas that these goblins inhabit are part of Tanimbar and, with the help of Mir and East Torphan, will be once again inhabited by human citizens of Tanimbar. In 1455: "There are reports of Ice Demons in Burcancy, but it is unclear where they have got there from, or if they are actually Tanimbar Goblins." "The cavalry sweeps find evidence of areas where Ice Demons had camped in secret for a time. Following the tracks, they manage to intercept and destroy several smallish bands of Ice Demons. Not all, though. There are several already cold tracks leading which suggest that the Demons either went west towards Parglug & Junder, or north into Tanimbar." "Exquaestio is able to demonstrate that the goblins currently in the Burcancy do not come from Tanimbar. Unfortunately the open revelation of Exquaestio's dealings with the goblins sours relations with Tanimbar for a few years and slows missionary efforts. Sour as relations become, certain individuals are still more than willing to profit from trade with the goblins." In 1456: "Unfortantly a message in regards to the impeding war against the Tanimbar goblins manages to fall into their hands. They beging to attack military post and corriers which further hampers the planning for the invasion." There's nothing to indicate that the goblins are gone from Burcancy and quotes 2 and 4 indicate that they are operating on the Burcancy / Tanimbar border. > That's why Mir and East Torphan are starting to help me. Jefferson read the second part of 1455 Sedonian action Results: The cavalry sweeps find evidence of areas where Ice Demons had camped in secret for a time. Following the tracks, they manage to intercept and destroy several smallish bands of Ice Demons. Not all, though. There are several already cold tracks leading which suggest that the Demons either went west towards Parglug & Junder, or north into Tanimbar. The sweeps do find a village near where King Opozoya was attacked which had been taken over by Cultists. While no Shadowspawn or Ice Demons are present, they do find a small coven of Hand of Garr Cultists led by a human vampire. The village is purified with minimal casualties. Overall, General Martros is satisfied that the Ice Demons have left Burcancy. Unfortunately, that means that they are someplace else . . . Also in 1456 all of the Ice Daemons raid took place in Tanimbar. The messangers crossed into Tanimbar from Unster to head towards Merar. Unster is on the Burcancy. So the courtiers would litteral have to be in Tanimbar to attack. If you read the action you will see the the Mirrish and Burcancy militaries were giving their troops a rest in preperation for help Tanimbar and there goblins. If I understand correctly Sedonia would not have withdrawn their troops if Burcancy was still being attacked especially since they are part of the same alliance and Burcancy would have been calling on there aid, and I am guessing the Sedonia, with troops already in the area would have stayed and helped. Douglas Sharp wrote: > to help me. The goblin raids I'm worried about are coming from the interior goblins. Ahem... we must all fully respect the right of a player to determine what happens in his/her society. However, I would like to point out that the Exquestio proved in 1455 that there are no Tanimbar goblins in Burcancy (from which it follows, or may follow, that Tanimber goblins did not cooperate with the Ice Demons). Although the proof is not irrefutable (and there are many people who refuse to accept it, and would do so irregardless of the proof), there are many people who feel that it has certain merit. > they are. They will be treated as invaders, which is to say, they will leave or > they will be forced to leave( whether they pick up and move out or they are > killed, either way their gone). This is a political decision, which is entirely justified. Even natural I think. My point is that there has been a succesfull action in the game in the past, and although the player of a society may choose to go against it, it would benefit the game better if the past action would be incorporated into the game. For example, since there are certain people who do think that goblins should not be treated such, the government might go against *them*, too. Confiscate property, etc. And this might have some repercussions, which the GM might consider. > If Exquaestio makes strong objections to this, then Exquaestio > will be banished from Tanimbar. Exquestio relations with Tanimbar government did take a sharp turn downwards in 1455. > The areas that these goblins inhabit are part of Tanimbar and, with > the help of Mir and East Torphan, will be once again inhabited by > human citizens of Tanimbar. Sounds like a great political manifesto :) Have you considered that some war-party is using this as a way to power? Perhaps the war-party has close relations to Mir, which in turn is financing them to get a military presence in Tanimbar? Politics is fun :) juuso ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
