[Cel] The Serpent's Head- Part One (Panchayyah)

The Grand Chieftain Tries to hide his declining
health. He has turned to the tradition of wearing the
masks of harvest and judgment for the first time in
his long reign. He covers his body in an elaborate
broad shouldered feather cloak that extends below his
feet. The few that have seen his hands note they look
ashen and almost gangrenous. His conversations with
others had become less productive, as he grew less
focused, a trend that had begun when he drank the
venom pulque. It was clear even under the feather
cloak that he had lost a considerable amount of
weight.

The village had taken a palpably different tone with
the changes in it's beating heart, the revered leader.
People seemed more nervous, and fewer goods were being
brought to market. Daily lives continued, but some
days with an almost nervously mechanical tone, a
notable change for people so full of life.
The Grand Chief has given many of this tasks to his
honored sons, and holds audience infrequently, Now he
retreats to the temple city with his wives. Teotaken
is left running the Rim River council. Teotaken does
not have the charm and easy affable nature of his
father, but is extremely observent, and shrewd in his
dealings. Council members Had taken to wearing small
octagonal mirrors around their necks, and smoke long
darkwood pipes the resembled the deadly hook-snake.

Many villagers blamed the Stihlweese for removing the
sacred stones
Some said that the world was always darkest before the
apex of flowers, and both moons come to the serpent's
grasp.

The Grand Cheiftan's compound Has been left under the
management of his eldest un married daughter, Tzsray.
She is an honored maiden of the temple of flowers, a
post given to only the most attractive of the women.
There is speculation is to why her father has not
given her away in marriage. She is an expert flower
weaver, and soft spoken.

The concerns of the other clans had been wearing on
Grand Chief Dheskerallai, and all the long hours
debating in the sweat lodge before and after the
Council meetings drained him.
When one of his own sons told him " You are becoming
like an outsider, like a flat-tongue, you are dressing
like a woman, and talking too much.", He knew he had
to return to the holy mountain, and finish what has
begun
"...if they only knew..." He thought as Grand Shaman
Chihua draw a long bloody needle from his shoulder...
