A couple points on the use of the colors: Deep purple and gold are the livery colors of the Imperial Household. Male servants of the Household such as footmen, butlers, coachmen, and grooms wear uniforms of deep purple with gold trim with the Crowned Eagle embroidered in gold over the heart. Female servants of the Household wear deep purple dresses with a bouquet of forget-me-nots embroidered over the heart. Similar uniforms are worn as formal Court Dress by high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Special Projects. All other high officials of the government wear Court Dress in maroon and gold, with Imperial Eagles embroidered on the cuffs. Formal uniforms for the Legions are also maroon and gold. The Navy wears blue and gold. Deep purple and silver are the livery colors of the servants of the heir to the throne. They wear uniforms like those of the Imperial Household, but with silver trim, and the crowned housecat badge of Prince Arden over the heart instead of the Crowned Eagle. The household servants of Prince Barnardus, the Grand Duke of Vizinia, wear livery of deep purple and forest green, with a silver porcupine embroidered over the heart. The household servants of Princess Irinia, the Grand Duchess of Tirmar, wear livery of deep purple and sky blue, with a dragon and a seagull embroidered in silver over the heart. The upper left quarter is green with a sword and shield crossed, representing Celtehar. The upper right quarter is blue with a single white tower, representing Tirmaeir. The lower right is green with a sailing ship, representing Celtelath. The lower left quarter is blue with the Old Timar golden sun, representing Saltrim. Seals are common amongst the Old and New Houses of New Kaeir. >Symbol: a stylised sigil of the letter K is a common symbol (adapted from a common sigil of the Green Lady), a more common symbol is a green band on documents, furnite, rooms or buildings. Amongst Kaeiraen sailors, it is common to paint a pair of green eyes on their ships as an omen of good fortune and to ward the evil eye. Heraldry is not as developed in Kaeir as in many other Midsea states, partly due to its association with monarchism. > > > Saltrim and Tirmaeir - both use variations on the Old Timar colours and symbols. Thus both the Dominion of Saltrim and the Dominion of Tirmaeir possess colours that combine the Kaeirean green and the Old Timar blue. I've also posted to the website the flags i did up for Kaeir a while ago but couldnt post to the website because of the various changes to the phoenyx setup. The main distinction is that in Kaeir, civil flags are longer horizontally, and military flags longer vertically (with the exception of the Fleet, which is horizontal). Old Timar: Colours: Blue. Seal: A blue shield with a white border, holding a golden sun wearing a crown. Symbol: A golden sun. The crowned golden sun was the symbol of the Old Timar royal house, though it is no longer used (some Kaeirean houses that can trace their ancestry back to the Old Timar court used to used the crowned sun, but in recent decades dropped the crowna as it wasn't exactly in harmony with Kaeiraen sensibilities.). >Shanari: >Colors: Green. >Seal: Heraldry does not really exist in Shanari society. Instead of seals, ornate calligraphy is used to sign official documents. A document signed by the Talis of the Commonwealth would be recognisable as official and legitimate by the ornate signature. Every literate Shanari would also have their own calligraphic signatures which are very difficult to forge (and almost as difficult to read, so ornate they are). >Symbol: An open white book on a green background. I was wondering if we could figure out the colors and symbols that represent the nations and house of Midsea. The Personal symbol of the kingship is a fine golden sun representing the Ota'Rriej or high jewel and the allegiance of the tower of light. It is always flown on a pure white horizontal banner that has a split in the middle on the far side. You will also find it on the King himself while in battle it being on his shield and armor. Other than the king no one wears this symbol on just pure white. The High Noble wears a medallion of the high sun to remind him of his loyalty and duty and most of the Noble Elders have rings with the crest of the high sun. The King on the other hand has the sun with a crown around it that is used as his signet ring. colour of the king:White and Gold symbol: sun with crown The Symbol of the high tower is a dark blue backing with a silver crescent moon. This symbol is flown at the Tower of Light under the flag of Rhudyn but at the same height as the kings flag. The mages wear a medallion of a the crescent moon when that is bestowed upon them at the completion of their training, it is rumored that the medallion grants some type of power on its wearer. Mage officail color:Dark Blue and Silver Symbol: Crescent moon Rhudyn National Color: Red and Silver Seal: Sheild two sided, 1st is dark blue backing with gold sun centered, 2nd is a emreld raken erect on a silver background Symbols:Gold sun, Silver crescent moon, Raken for now its all I have, I really don't know a lot about this topic of heraldry ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
