[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

Well, I have a interesting story. As ya'll know, Jason is on a dig in southwestern Utah for his internship. I live about two hours away. I blessed my baby on this last sunday (the 7th) and I went down where Jason is at and picked him up to come and particpate. So, at about 7pm I take him back down to his camp. When I picked him up, I didn't have to go out to his camp, I just picked him up at a church where the rest of his group was attending. Well, there is about ten miles of dirt road you have to go on before you get to the camp where he is staying. I drop him off and about 3/4 of the way to the highway, I get a flat. So, I take off the tire and put on the spare only to find out that it is flat too. (I just got a newer van and forgot to check that the spare was ok). So, I was stuck in the middle of nowhere for two hours until some random people out on a night ride came by and took me back to the camp where Jason was at. So, between that, getting ready for the
blessing, taking care of my son, and Walmart switch my schedule around because of some quitting and then someone on vacation, I didn't get a chance to do my action. I will be sending in one soon for 1465. Oh, well, just thought I'd share the interesting turns my life has taken. Doug

[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

Glad to know you're still around and that you're okay.

Refresh my memory: were you running any strategic actions? If you were,
I'll resolve them for 1464 so you don't fall behind in them.

[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

Ok, for the 1464 part of the anti-goblin crusade:

Diff (-1) + Dice (1,1,1,-1) = +1 Complete Success (4 of 5)

The Tanimbari forces are able to concentrate, now that they've pulled
back from the Sedonian border. This lets them push the goblins, hard.
The Goblins are forced deeper into the Tanimbari forests, which is both
good and bad: Good, they've retreated; bad, their backs are to the wall,
and they are fighting for their lives. The Tanimbari generals warn the
King and Queen that the cost of the final battle is likely to be
frighteningly high, if the goal is total extermination. They suggest
simply forcing the goblins over the border with Torphan.

The advance of the armies overruns many goblin villages--in some of
them, evidence is found indicating that Exquaestio has been smuggling
supplies to the goblins from both Sedonia and the Burcancy. Most
disturbing are the indications that someone very high in the Sedonian
government has ordered the border guards to turn a blind eye to
Exquaestio activity on the border.

---------------------------------------------

In game terms, if you try to wipe them out totally next year, be
prepared for high casualties.

Good thing I never was planning total extermation then. I orginally planned to just push the goblins over the border. If you want to find out just how hard a creature will fight, put their backs to the wall and give them nothing to lose. Doug

Indeed, as Master Sun Tzu said, "In death ground, fight."

By the way, which border are you pushing them towards? I've been
assuming Torphan, but you might have other plans. Whichever border,
your relations with whomever's on the other side will take a hit.

[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

Well, it is the Torphan border but Tanimbar isn't sure the Torphan's border is right up against us. Because of Torphan's policy of isolation, Tanimbar doesn't have a accurate map of the Torphan border because no major contact has ever been made with Torphan on that border. That border was established as a "this is what we can control" sort of thing. I may be wrong. I wasn't playing (obviously) when Tanimbar was created, so I may have it wrong. Please feel free to correct my error if there is one. Doug

[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

I think you're right. The border area is more of a fuzzy frontier than a
line in the sand. The borderlands in that area are forested hills and
Appalachian-style mountains, so the Torphani might not notice the
goblins right away.

[Cel] Why no Tanimbar action for 1464

Yeah, you'll probably just have to roll a event for the goblins on how far they go over the mountains and whether the Torphani notice that there is goblins in the mountains now. I don't intend to follow them into the mountains. That would be bad. Doug

Andrew Janssen wrote: I think you're right. The border area is more of a fuzzy frontier than a
line in the sand. The borderlands in that area are forested hills and
Appalachian-style mountains, so the Torphani might not notice the
goblins right away.

Well, I know certain parties (including, surprisingly, the Brotherhood of the Night) in Kaeir were concerned at the possibility of genocide...

I guess I'll wait for the conflict to progress a bit further before I write anything up....

Douglas Sharp wrote: Good thing I never was planning total extermation then. I orginally planned to just push the goblins over the border. If you want to find out just how hard a creature will fight, put their backs to the wall and give them nothing to lose. Doug

Andrew Janssen wrote: Ok, for the 1464 part of the anti-goblin crusade:
