Foot,
I think that you have lost the ability to read and understand. He is NOT
talking about the mage leader becoming all powerful, He's talking about the
mage's ENEMY becoming all powerful.
Personally, I feel that this sort of situation is very hard on the players.
Whilst I agree with the concept, as it poses a nice moral dilemma for the
players, it is sometimes necessary for the gm to allow them the oppertunity
to find away to do both. Possibly find a way of defeating the evil mage
following a hard battle destroying the tower of domination. If he wants to
make them work for it, make the solution a riddle or a puzzle which they
have to collect items and put together in order to find the way to defeat
the mage.
By the way, as this is my first posting the this list, allow me to say a big
