I've cut the following from my old rulebook section on personality. It's
not directly in line with what you're doing but might provide some ideas:

A good simple method for a person’s motivation is used in Twilight 2000 (by
Game Designer’s Workshop). It involves drawing two cards from an ordinary
deck of playing cards. The table below gives the meaning of the cards (it
has been modified from the Twilight 2000 table). The card with the highest
value is the primary purpose of the character, the other card complicates
this purpose.
suit

Clubs Violence (Ace = War Leader, King = Brutality, Queen = Lust, Jack
= Murderer)

Diamonds Wealth (Ace = Gambler, King = Selfishness, Queen = Generosity,
Jack = Coward)

Hearts Fellowship (Ace = Justice, King = Honour, Queen = Love, Jack =
Wisdom)

Spades Power (Ace = Supreme Leader, King = Pomp, Queen = Influence, Jack
= Coward)
