As well as being a discussion group, any recipes of note will get nicely formatted and archived on the web page. Eventually, I'll probably categorize them or something. Probably I should have made the first recipe a pie crust, in honor of GMAST. Maybe somebody who has the older stuff archived can come up with a recipe that was discussed then, I dunno. Anybody? And as to non-recipe discussion... what sort of food do you eat while gaming, and what does it say about your group? -- Karen J. Well, I don't have any recipes to contribute (yet), I can answer this one. During the game session, the group tends to eat whatever is close to hand, with fresh fruit (preferably with carmel dip) and fresh vegtables (again with dip) being quite popular. Also *very* popular the new candy bites, esp. the Kit Kat ones. Also a semi-tradition are Oreos, the seasonable ones. Preferably well "out of season" so that people have forgotten what they looked like. (Personally, I thought the spring blue ones were much more interesting that this year's spring yellow). As to what this says about us, the Oreos part is pretty definite: we're weird. -- Michael Feldhusen mike_f@io.com http://www.io.com/~mike_f/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- GAMERS Home Page: http://www.phoenyx.net/gamers/

Heh... it says that the GM (me) loves to cook and that half of us are watching our weight. Its an odd combination... At my monthly game we usually have homebaked cookies of various sorts, the usual chips and soda. Oftentimes we'll have veggies and dip as well, and when I'm not in pregnant mode, my healthy salty choice of snack is popcorn. For dinners... well, we've done the usual pizza & subs. Or sushi and chinese. Although we've also got a definite habit of homecooked meals. In the past I've done a big crockpot of chili with homemade bread. Or a huge crockpot full of jambalaya. Last night was a dry run on a "minimum work" thanksgiving, with rotisseried chicken on the grill, baked potatos and yams (also grilled), boiled corn on the cob, a huge salad (mm, love my garden!), homemade pesto bread, stuffing, and fresh green beans. And the best part was, it literally was minimum work... that's actually part of the fun for me. Trying to figure out a way to make a nice healthy dinner without it impacting my GMing all that much. I've been in online or PBEM groups for a couple years now, so no group munching. Before that, I would be showing up for face to face games with either Chinese takeout or fast-food burger and fries; which said that the game was scheduled for one half hour after I got off work. (Which wouldn't have been so bad if we'd _started_ on schedule, but got annoying when I rushed to get to the game on time and we didn't start for 90 minutes.) No particular recipe was discussed... the discussion was about why crust
gets tougher when you over-work it.

Tortilla chips and bean dip. Lately, slightly odder stuff like goat
cheese, dates, gourmet breads and cheese spreads. I don't know what it
says, except that Rolondo likes bread.

Mmmmm, Great Harvest bread, gooOOOooddd!!!! Well at least it marginally healthier than chips. Before my diet, I always made brownies. The recipe can be found on the back of the Duncan Hines box! The secret is using a insulated 7x11 brownie pan. Other munchies I like is salt & vinegar chips. A friend said he used to bring them because no one else would touch them and he get the bag pretty much to his self. Thing with my group is they all seem to like it to! And I can only find them in small bags! However, the diet is about over and I am thinking veggies with fat free ranch dip. some fat free sour cream (I like Land o Lakes) A packet of ranch dressing powder. It not bad, and heather than store bought. I make it a table spoon at a time. Throw Sequoia (the German Shepherd) one, she'd catch it in midair... and then make the most incredible face, and spit it out. Then think about it. Then eat it. After that, she'd catch them in midair and snarf them down. But it was worth it for that expression on the first one. -- Karen J. Inexperienced, at least.) > And as to non-recipe discussion... what sort of food do you eat > while gaming, and what does it say about your group? Has depended on the group. Stir-fry random, in the group I think of first as "my group", and it says that we were mostly DP guys. ---------------------------------------------------------------- GAMERS Home Page: http://www.phoenyx.net/gamers/
