While I was researching a webcolumn on food and gaming, I ran across a quote (unattributed, unfortunately, but maybe Googling for it can turn up an author) which explains *perfectly* why I, the person who doesn't typically like typical female pursuits, do like cooking: "Cooking is great. It's a socially acceptable excuse for playing with knives and fire." Heh. -- Karen J. *Fondue* is entertainment! Sharp, pointy forks, open flame, hot
oil... and *everybody* gets to join in.
I like to cook with gas, because it's easier for me to "intuitively"
figure out how much flame I need... electric just doesn't give me that.
But Karen's a bit nervous about potential gas leaks, so she's not
interested in a gas stove. And to err on the side of safety and mental
security, I've not lobbied for one. ('sides, she does most of the cooking
now days.) Karen does like to grill more than she does cook in the
kitchen, though.

The simple fact of the matter is that food tastes better over coals. Forget this nonsense about gas grills. 9/2/01 1:47:36 PM, Carl D Cravenswrote: >On Sun, 2 Sep 2001, Chris Tutty wrote: > >> Oh yeah! Nobody's talking nonsense about gas grills... we're talking electric vs
gas ranges.

In either case, that phrase is now to be found on buttons and bumper stickers from a large number of people.
