I dithered between posting this to +food or +friday[ funtime]. Carl's reheating leftovers (beef burgundy) and demonstrating poor impulse control at the same time: "Hey, this looks like the cat food we used to feed Chaos!" What he doesn't know (until he reads this message) is that I still have a can or two of that. He's getting it for dinner tomorrow night, I think. -- Karen J. Sounds like a good night to eat out.

Our cats don't usually get canned food except as a rare treat. But Chaos
had developed a thyroid problem that made him lethargic and not interested
in eating. He was taking medication, but it didn't do a lot of good.
He'd eat canned cat food more readily than dry.
Eventually he stopped eating and drinking and we had him put to sleep a
few months ago.

That was after his kidneys failed (probably exacerbated by the thyroid medication). We were (well, *I* was) concerned about FIP, since we'd cat-sat for my sister, whose cat was diagnosed with it a few years ago. Being that he only died a few months ago (cats with FIP rarely live more than six months), we suspect it was a misdiagnosis and he, too, had kidney failure. We're now a single-cat, single-dog household. Still occasionally seems like a crowded house. Of course, that may be because of the vast quantities of fur that now occupy it, *not* attached to any animal (sometimes "anymore," most times "never was"). -- Karen J.
