The creature quivers when Dharak prods it with the knife, and lets out a low flatulent sound. Whether or not this is it's final death rattle, or it isn't quite dead isn't clear, but after Dharak stabs it a couple more times, it moves no more. There is a unpleasant reek about it, unlike any creature anyone has encountered before. Nobody's wounds are particularly serious or life-threatening; probably Jorg's is the worst - that one's going to be sore for a while. Reylorna now beings to come round. -- Tim Hall, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/timjh "The Very Big Stupid is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. Have you seen it? It sometimes disguises itself as a good-looking quarterly bottom line, derived by closing the R&D department"
[Dharak]
"Ecch." He cleans his knife, lingers long enough to see if he can get
any psychometric impressions from the carcass, then follows Jorg over
to Reylorna.
"Slow down, brother, let me have a look at that cut," he says,
sheathing his knife and pulling out his first aid kit.
[OOC: Hope everyone is having a joyous holiday season!]

[>Dharak] > "Ecch." He cleans his knife, lingers long enough to see if he can get > any psychometric impressions from the carcass, The psychometric impressions are... interesting. Something quite unlike anything he's experienced before, a sort of twisting of space and time. -- Tim Hall, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/timjh "The Very Big Stupid is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. [Reylorna] Finally giving in to exhaustion the curious apprentice, chooses a softer portion of the dirt as a pillow, and begins to softly snore.
[OOC: That is what I get for reading the mail in the wrong order. So a replacement for the other post.] [Reylorna] She sits upward now more curious than ever. "Is everyone alright?" She wonders aloud. Standing with the help of her new found friends, she shakes for a moment as her feet come under her.
[Jaldaric] Shame-facedly, Jal helps Ryzar to his feet. For once he seems a bit lost for words, unable to approach the matter of having drawn steel on a friend. "It took you as well, Jaldaric?", says Kylar, "Let us thank Kardak that the abomination is finally dead. It *is* dead, isn't it?". "Do you remember any more than I", Verthes says to Jorg, "There was the sickness, and the madness. But only the masters knew more, and I fear all of them are dead". "We must return to the castle", announces Kylar, "Now it is safe, we must search for any other survivors, for a clue as to where the creature came from", He gestures to Duplar and Reylorna. "I think this is your department, I'm just a simple soldier". -- Tim Hall, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/timjh "The Very Big Stupid is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. [Duplar] >"We must return to the castle", announces Kylar, "Now it is safe, we >must search for any other survivors, for a clue as to where the >creature came from", He gestures to Duplar and Reylorna. "I think >this is your department, I'm just a simple soldier". "Our task in deed! But I'm not convinced you are just a simple soldier." "Still, before we return to the castle I would just like to see if this monster has the same alien taint to it that the other wierd things we have encountered have had. I expect so, but I dare not take anything for granted." Duplar makes his own inspection of the body, using all his senses, and then joins the rest of the party heading back into the castle.
Duplar gets an fleeting impression of a bizarre twisting of space and time; a very similar sensation to the monster in the Karazthan a few days ago. -- Tim Hall, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/timjh "The Very Big Stupid is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. [Reylorna] "Certainly searching for survivors is a good idea. Though I don't feel the thing it was so frightening, I just can't help but wonder if it really is dead." With that final pleasant thought, she begins moving slowly back towards the castle. -Pandemonium
The corpse of the creature is nothing like any native life form. It's not clearly mammalian or reptile; the grey-brown fur suggests that it's warm-blooded. It's not that big, barely larger than man-sized if it were to stand on it's hind legs; it looks as if it's a quadruped, unless there are more legs underneath. Two flexible tentacles either side of it's mouth; lie limp on the ground. -- Tim Hall, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/timjh "The Very Big Stupid is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. [Jaldaric] "I'd vote for that," agrees Jal, "but to be sure, why don't we burn this?" He gestures at the foul corpse. "A good big bonfire might attract back anyone hiding out there, as well." OOC: I figured that Reylorna was headed in, and that was the general drift of the other conversations. But in all fairness here is a post. Sorry. [Reylorna] "By all means let us burn it and be sure. Unless, Duplar, you think that it would be useful to study. Personally I would perfer to see it completely destroyed." Her voice didn't sound vindictive, just concerned. -Sean

[Jaldaric] "Right", approves Jal with some alacrity. "Can one of you two wonder-workers strike a light while Dharak and I gather some firewood?"
