[Dharak]
The teacher strokes the sides of his goatee. "Everything we have seen
and read suggests that someone is using First Empire devices to
overthrow the Third. The Academy of the Mind and the Karazthan pose
the greatest threat to that agenda, and have been targeted. But we
still don't know why, or by whom."
"We here, and those of you who fought that monster at the Karazthan,
have been battling the symptoms, not the disease. And yet we've
uncovered enough evidence to strongly suggest that the source of the
infection may still be nearby. To delay in rooting out that malady
would be, to my mind, the height of folly."
"I say we follow the map, see what's at the end of it, scout it out.
If a functioning mirror exists there, it's likely to be strongly
defended. If we are outmanned, we can flee." He looks at Duplar. "That
kind of reconnaissance would please both your masters."
"And we might not need to send any messengers. How far away is the
human settlement where your comrade is recuperating? Is it close
enough for my sister here to send him a message via the Way of the
Will?"

Ryzar:
"I don't recall that the land between here and that last village was
particularly dangerous." Ryzar says (but remember that Vince, the Player,
wasn't around then ^_^), "I would think that a single messenger would have
no difficulties getting through. Especially if using one of those ...
riding beasts ... which must still be in the stable that a place such as
this must surely have."
Ryzar turns to Kylar -- the closest thing that this group has to a
'military comander'.
"Send one of the staff --" Ryzar nods in the direction of the kitches
staffers, " -- riding to the village. Verthes, along with the remaining
staff, can remain here, while the -- how did you call them? Wizards? --
recuperate. They can seal up the citadel -- which, after all, is designed
to be held by a few against the many -- and wait til aid comes."
"For the rest of us, we head into the hills, and track down the source of
these evil events. If we delay for any amount of time, then we give this
evil time to recover, and prepare defenses. And, if it is the Kolder we
face, as I suspect, time is a luxury that we do not want to grant them!"
Ryzar smiles at the assembled group, his large expressive eyes in his
heart-shaped face giving him the aspect of an impish child.
"Scouting and fighting in hill-lands is what we Borderers do." he says
confidently, "It is the terrain that I am specifically trained for. We
shall have no unpleasant surprises!"
