With the legionnaire Kylar leading the way, six travellers set out from the castle. The trail is sufficiently well-worn to indicate that quite a few people have travelled this route in recent weeks, winding though rolling hills with patches of woodland. Being springtime, the flowers are just starting to appear. Sadly the weather isn't perfect. The leaden sky when they set out produced the expected slow but steady drizzle, and the wind is coming from the north, making it cold and not terribly pleasant for all concerned. [*1] Earlier, Verthes the mageguard and Jorg the mercenary had elected to remain in the castle to form a some semblance of a defense force to protect the surviving non-combatants. From snatches of conversation Dharak overheard, it appeared that the pregnant teenage girl who had been hiding in the hayloft is the actually daughter of someone very important. At what might have been noon if the sun had been visible, Kylar notices something. "I don't like the look of this", he says, "I haven't seen anything remotely like this before, but it's an evil sight. Another dark creature of theirs?". He points to a man-sized bundle lying on the ground. "Do those Kolder of yours do anything like this?". It's not a man, but an animal; a glandrin. [*2] It's been wrapped in silk, just like an insect caught by a spider. [*1][Some players may realise where your GM is actually living] [*2][About the size of a deer] [OOC - post any further pre-departure conversations to the old thread; use this one for events on the journey] -- Tim Hall, http://www.kalyr.com "It's a fine line between stupid and clever" - Spinal Tap
