"Never seen him before", Banjo whispers in reply, "But he looks as if he's a looter to me!". To Rotemdol, it looks as if the guy is looking around for anything 'interesting', rather than looking for something in particular. With the fire now pretty much under control, Rotemdol and Banjo make their way across to the other side of the valley to the temple of healing. Nobody had made any attempt to stop the would-be looter, who slipped away into the crowd. The sun is still blotted out by the pall of smoke as they approach. The temple consists of a walled courtyard surrounded by several buildings cut into the steep walls of the cliff. There is but one public entrance, a gateway through the wall wide enough to take a large vehicle. While the gate stands open, several armed knights in the livery of the Temple of Ulseth stand guard. Normally there are two, but on this occasion Rotemdol counts no fewer than six. Beyond the gates he can see a lot of people milling about. -- Tim Hall, http://www.kalyr.com Read my blog! http://www.kalyr.com/blogger.shtml

[OOC: Sorry, folks. Just got back from the hospital with my first baby -- a boy. I've been posting erratically for a while; his impending arrival was the reason. I've never been happier, or more exhausted. I wonder what my skill roll penalties are, operating as I am on five hours of sleep in four dayssszzzzzzzz Anyway...] [Zul] Zul will continue hanging around the scene of the fire, trying to find any clues as to its cause -- mostly from witnesses, the Karazthan, and Rataxe's people. If she gets a chance, she'll find out where she can get in touch with Aldrand at a later time -- where he works, where he worships, where he drinks, whatever he's willing to offer. If that Karazthan operative is hanging around, Zul will chat him up, and try to get a dinner date with him for tonight -- assuming, of course, that he's at least passable in appearance. Girl's got to have standards, after all.
second try did not appear for 12 hours [ooc: just move an apartment, the kids are sleeping, done moving things prefer to think of something else] Rotemdol will start juggling colored balls absent mindedly as he is waiting for the knight to reply. "Eggs are also good...", Rotemdol adds as an afterthought. "Eggs are messy", the Knight says, "Do you promise to clean up the mess?". "Have you ever seen Rotemdol not clean up the mess?", Banjo says, "And have you ever seen Rotemdol ever _make_ a mess in the first place?". "Well as you know I usually perform with weapons so I have a few" Rotemdol replies as he takes of his weapon belt with two large knives. He takes the nirvork of his back (with the holster). He than proceed to take 4 throwing knives out of shoulder holsters and one knife from each boot. "You can have this lot back when you leave", the Knight says, letting the two walk in. Rotemdol and Banjo find themselves in a large courtyard surrounded by buildings. The large building facing them is just a facade in the face of the cliff; it probably extends a considerable way back underground, in the manner of Calbeynan construction. The courtyard is filled with people, including many soot-covered Anthill residents. [Rotemdol] Rotemdol starts walking in the courtyard surveying the place. He is absent minded tossing a single soft ball. Nothing that require any skill however those who pay attention may notice that the color of the ball is changing from time to time. He greets the people he knows and the people who greet him. Rotemdol take special care to see how the people he saved are doing. He than move to the temple proper and continues the inspection. In the places where the better to do people are treated he keep an eye for red heads... If any one asks him and Banjo what they are doing Banjo will reply "Rotemdol here is going to give free entertainment to this poor people, something that may make the day a bit better" After figuring out a location (preferably inside, or alternatively outside the gates by the knights) Rotemdol will go to talk to on of the priests who seems to be in charge "Rotemdol is the name and I came here to Juggle. I have helped some of the people of the fire in the Ant-Hill and I figure they need something to smile about. I have seen many kids here and I figure that if I take them from between your feet for a time it will not cause any harm. Do you think it will be a good idea if I do the show at ??? (according to the tour)"
Rotemdol starts walking in the courtyard surveying the place, absent minded tossing a single soft ball; nothing that seems to require any skill. However, as one or two children notice, the colour of the ball does change from time to time. Their eyes follow him around. Rotemdol greets a couple of survivors, including the man that had been trapped under the fallen beam, and the woman rescued from the burning house. While they've received some treatment for the injuries, the healers have their work cut out, and some of the injured have had to wait a long time. Rotemdol moves to the temple proper and continues his inspection. There are some people praying in the worship area, a dark-haired kandar man, and a elderly human woman. It doesn't seem appropriate to juggle here, so he doesn't. There are several large wards where the sick and injured receive treatment; as Rotemdol and Banjo enter the first, they're challenged by a large bald-headed human in a white robe. "What are you doing?", he asks. "Rotemdol here is going to give free entertainment to these poor people, something that may make the day a bit better", replies Banjo. "Where are you going to do this?", the bald man asks. "Wherever there is room?", Banjo replies. "It will have to be the courtyard", replies the man. Rotemdol scans the room for redheads; there are several people with reddish hair in this ward, three of them kandar woman; all three of them are middle-aged. He seeks out a priestess in charge, eventually finding a plump middle-aged woman in priestly regalia, out in the courtyard. "Rotemdol is the name and I came here to Juggle. "Banjo, could you set out outside, the clown routine?" Rotemdol asks? As Banjo takes the backpack and heads outside Rotemdol says " Wait a minute, forgot my clown nose. While you are setting up I will drum sum audience here. I am sure that outside once you start the set up people will gather" Rotemdol put on his red clown nose and will try to go all over the place and tell people to come to the show outside. If a kid needs help he will carry him outside and will than continue. He is in no hurry as Banjo will keep them occupied till he comes. Once he pushed his nose in every conceivable place he will go outside (unless something very interesting happens of course). This show is geared for generating laughs. He will fail often however the balls will tend to fall in the laps of cute kids or on his head. He will do some magic tricks with things appearing and vanishing. Accuse little kids of "steeling" his balls and than produce them from their laps, etc. He will also go for crowd participation juggling with team juggling with some of the older kids and he will make them look good.

"Wait a minute, forgot my clown nose", Rotemdol asks, "While you are setting up I will drum some audience here. I am sure that outside once you start the set up people will gather". Rotemdol puts on his red clown nose and wanders through those areas he's permitted to tell people to come to the show outside. The temple guards won't let him go everywhere; he's not permitted upstairs, or to the deeper chambers. The big red nose attracts attention; it's something used by human entertainers, but not by kandar. Rotemdol soon has a chain of children following him out into the courtyard. This show is geared for generating laughs. Often he fails, however the balls mostly tend to fall in the laps of cute kids or on his head. It takes a while for Rotemdol to get a rhythm going; the first part falls below his usual standards and he drops balls he didn't intend to. The kids think this is part of the act, though. He also does some magic tricks with things appearing and vanishing; accusing little kids of "stealing" his balls, then produce them from their laps. This produces roars of laughter from the children, and many of the adults too. Finally he tries some crowd participation juggling with team juggling with some of the older kids. He tries to make them look good, one small kandar girl seems to Rotemdol as a natural, and would make a great entertainer as she gets older. -- Tim Hall, http://www.kalyr.com Read my blog! http://www.kalyr.com/weblog

Here are three balls, let me know when you can juggle them". After he gives her the balls Rotemdol will escort her back to her family and chat with them telling them how good she is. [What can you tell me about her?] Rotemdol will later walk to the temple and talk to the priestess " I think the kids liked it. It was good for them. Do you think any of the people inside will merit a private show? It will be nice to do well while doing good"

She's a natural; either that or she's been juggling for years. Rotemdol escorts her back to her family to chat with them telling them how good she is. She gives her name as Lulmyra. He finds her 'family' consists of an older sister, Ayruna and younger brother, Teyrath; it turns out the parents are dead and the older sister, little more than a child herself, is the head of the family. They're at the temple because Ayruna is quite seriously ill. Rotemdol walks to the temple to talk to the priestess "I think the kids liked it", he tells her, "It was good for them. The first is the evening show at the Dragon. The second is free street show for kids. The third is the private shows. There are rich people who do not want to come to a show but want it at the convenience of their house. Often it is part of a party. It is all completely above board. Zul hangs around the scene of the fire, trying to find any clues as to its cause. The Karazthan make no attempt to deter looters, although one man gets caught and badly beaten by a group of people that might have been residents of the ruin he was attempting to loot. "Chadrad's tower went first", says one grey-haired woman, her face and clothes smeared with ash and soot, "Cooking pan fell over". "Not what I heard", says a short, fat man with torn clothes, "It was the knights; the knights that hate us. Kandar want to flush us out". "And you saw them?", the woman asks. "No", he replies, "But old Juleer". "You believe the rot that Juleer says, you'll believe anything", replies the woman, walking away. Those Zul has identified as Rataxe's people seem eager to find the cause, and a group of them congregate around the smoking pile of ash and crumbled walls that had been Chadrad's tower. The little man Aldrand is among them, as is Borkugg Jelland. "Somebody did this to hurt The Boss", says one. "The boss will want to know". He motions a finger across the throat. "Find some survivors", says Jelland, "They'll talk. I make people talk. I go and see the Boss now; see me at the Vordral's at noon". "I'll try and be there", Aldrand replies to him, "If I can't make it, I'll be in the Armpit late tonight; got work at the docks". Meanwhile the Karazthani show little interest in the cause of the fire, only it's effect. They all seem to agree the place was a conflagration waiting to happen, with it's timber construction and narrow, inaccessible alleyways. Zul encounters the human Karazthani again as their loading equipment back into their power-waggon. He notices her approach.
