[OOC: Sorry, moving, lots of baby-related classes (our first is on the way), work, all taking their toll on game time.] [Dharak] As the robed thing collapses, Dharak shakes the psychic echoes from his head and assesses the situation. This human, at least, should be taken alive. The beast-man, if possible, but we don't know much about his mind. It might be as alien as the cat-men. No, can't afford to kill the human. Are either the beast-man or the human within his telepathic range? If so, he'll urge Reylorna to put the beast-man to sleep, while he (Dharak) plants a Suggestion in the human's mind of "Surrender." Maybe then, we can get him to turn off the mirror, the teacher thinks. If both targets are out of range, he'll try to get a *completely* clear shot with the energy weapon at the beast-man (hoping that his luck with the thing will hold, and that he won't shoot the unsuspecting Ryzar in the back), and will tell Reylorna to get the human to surrender via suggestion. ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: Re: Kalyr: 72f - The Machines Author: Tim HallDate: 7/30/02 3:53 PM [I am hoping the complete lack of responses means that everybody is on holiday, not that everyone has lost interest in the game!] -- Tim Hall, http://www.kalyr.com "It's a fine line between stupid and clever" - Spinal Tap

This distracts it just long enough for Kylar to finally land a blow on the thing. His blade strikes deep, gushing blood. Ryzar apparently decides upon a sudden change of tactics, as he turns
and rushes the 'human'.
"Die, Kolderspawn!" Ryzar cries, as he makes his play to attack the
man.
His target, who had been aiming at Jaldaric, drops his weapon and
raises his hands. Clearly the Kolder-spawn is a coward.
[RYZAR]
For just a second, Ryzar considers carrying through with his swing and removing the problem of this human servant of the Kolder -- but only for a moment.
"Come out of there, you!" Ryzar growls at the prisoner, reaching out to grab up a handful of the man's robes, and pulling him out of his place of concealment.
"My Lady Reylorna! Goodman Duplar! I have one, here, that can answer questions!" Ryzar calls out, as he slides around behind the man, keeping his free-hand clamped upon the prisoner's shoulder, while placing the point of his shortsword at the middle of the man's back.
"And you WILL answer some questions for the Lady, WON'T you!" Ryzar growls into the man's ear, lightly poking him twice, in emphasis, as he marches the man towards Reylorna and Duplar.

Dharak darts out from behind the machinery, sticking the energy weapon into his belt. "Make sure that thing stays down, brother," he barks to Jal, who responds by directing a few more telling blows with his sword at the downed foe, eventually severing it's head. Presumably this means the creature is dead. Dharak he pulls a large cloth bandage out of his first aid kit and rushes toward the wounded Kylar. "Duplar, maybe you can get our prisoner to turn off this crazy machine before it drops another monster on our heads." He kneels next to Kylar. "Easy, captain," he says as he assesses the legionnaire's wound. He is indeed grievously wounded; Dharak fears the injury may well be mortal. "Ugh!", says Kylar, coughing blood. He grimaces in pain. Dharak does his best, and seems to established him. But his breathing is ragged, and it will need more expert medical treatment for the soldier to have much of a chance of survival. [RYZAR]
As he marches the ugly little man towards Duplar and Reylorna, Ryzar catches sight of Dharak working on Kylar.
"Jal!" Ryzar calls to his friend, "Come take control of this Kolder-serving Toad! Kylar looks to be in bad shape -- perhaps my meager skills with herbs and healing can help him.
[OOC: If/when Jal comes to relieve Ryzar of his prisoner, Ryzar will rush over to Dharak and Kylar -- sheathing his sword, and pulling his pack from his back, as he does. Once there, Ryzar will do little to disturb the, no doubt, excellent work that Dharak has done. Mostly, Ryzar will just double-check Dharaks work, and add to it with the applications of some herbal poultices (which he keeps in his healers bag, in his backpack), as well as trying -- carefully! -- to get Kylar to drink some water.
All during this, Ryzar's unconscious Healing power will be operating...
It's not much, but it might better stabilize Kylar.]

The bard gently rests the point of his long blade on the man's shoulder from behind, where he can see its' point and feel the cold edge against his neck. Then he murmurs from behind, "My friend and comrade is badly hurt, scum. You are the only person left we can blame. I wonder," and at this point, all the dripping menace that he's ever worked into the voice of a ballad villain oozes from his voice, "how many days we can keep you alive while you pay for that?" No vocal sign that this is to keep the man still; because Jal's left arm won't grip enough to hold him. If he moves, Jal will have to kill him; he's no arm to grab with. -- Hugh Foster hugh@ace-dog.com http://www.ace-dog.com Mon, 19 Aug 2002 17:30 +0100 "Piece out our imperfections with your thoughts"
[OOC - I'm now on broadband - I can access email reliably!] [Duplar] Duplar emerges from cover and starts examining the devices. He has seen many strange things in the Guild workshops, but nothing this sophisticated. How much have things changed over the years? His first priority is to find an "off" or "standby" button.
[Reylorna] The battle was over, just as fast as if it had never been. She stood reeling both in her own mental exhaustion and from what she had just experienced. She shook her head when Ryzar called her name. For a moment she could focus on the prisoner rather than what she had done. "What shall we find out first?" She asked rhetorically. She began to concentrate and tried to enter the prisoner's mind. She knew all too well that had to get that mirror shut down, after what she had experienced in the Karzanthanian. --Pandemonium
