Okay, the first vict...er, test list is set up and running. I picked (on)
the Seventh Order because they've got three mailing lists that are really
suitable for one big happy list with subtopics.

Here's something new in the 7thorder status report:

3 autoremoval of kbodman@webtv.net ('SMTP; 554-The incoming mailbox for
user kbodman is full.' reported by mailsorter-101-1.iap.bryant.webtv.net)

'3' is the priority level. Don't worry about this.

Autoremoval means webtv.net sent a bounce message informing Deliverance
that kbodman@webtv.net wasn't getting email, and why. (There won't always
be a reason, but you all know how uninformative some bounce messages are
already.)

What will happen now is that tonight at midnight(ish), a message will go
out to kbodman@webtv.net saying (in effect) "You're off the list. Here's
why, and here's how to get back on." If *that* message bounces, it will
go nowhere, so the listowner doesn't get any more bounce messages. A week
from tonight, same thing. Three weeks from that, again. Another week from
that (five weeks from the initial bounce), the address is permanently
removed (unless the user has responded, of course).

All of this happens with no listowner intervention. Cool, huh?

Utterly cool. Handling bounching addresses is (for me) the biggest
list maintainance headache. Not really a BIG headache, but still...
Can't wait to see the same thing on Celandra. :)

She draws a pistol from her knickers.
She aims it at the creature's head,
And bang bang bang she shoots him dead.

Well, Celandra would have been my first pick for a beta test, except you
guys are actually using the subgroups already. The problem there is that
people will have to remember to send to celandra+elyria instead of
celandra-elyria (or whatever), so I decided we ought to wait and do that
in one big immediate changeover. The 7thorder people are playing with
that list while still using the old lists for their game, and that is
confusing enough to them...
