Subject: New Game

We would like to set up two lists for a new PBeM campaign.

purgatorio@phoenyx.net - The Primary List, used for all game related In Character Activity.
silvercord@phoenyx.net - The Discussion List, used for Out Of Character activity, Lurker approval/feedback, IRC Combat schedules, etc. (Paperwork)

Ad Blurb:

Purgatorio, Paradisio, Inferno, the oldest of the rule of threes; You do your time, get your reward, and take your licks, berk. The paths to, in and through Sigil are as numerous as there are ways to die. Will you find your reward? Or will a fiend serve you as steak on a stick? A PBeM AD&D RPG based in the Planescape(tm) setting. Veteran players, too darn much of a pair veteran DM's. Regularly posted mailing list with heavy encounters resolved by mIRC. For more info, email: purgatorio@xoommail.com.

Back Cover:

"See the planes" They said. "Travel to exciting gate towns where the rewards are greatest for those on the 'Glory Road'." They said. Why is it that the more exciting and rewarding things always wind up with someone bleeding, broke, pissed off, or all three.
Embrace the mantra of a faction. Piously homage the dogma of the Powers. Ignore them all and get some jink. That's what I'm in it for. Aren't you? Join us and see the planes, not the good parts, not the parts in the travelogues, the seemy, dirty, smelly and often bloody underbelly of the universe. All takers taken. All fools fooled.
The factions don't know the answer, they only think they do. The powers don't know the answer, they only believe they do. You don't know the answer, but you don't even know the question. You and your rather unfortunate comrades are cajoled, hoodwinked and just plain drafted into "fixing" things that shouldn't need "fixing". Something large and rather disturbing appears to be spinning the City of Doors, and maybe more. There is a cancer gnawing at the center of the known universe. Slowly, even the disorderly order of chaos is wasting away. Are you going to stop it? Probably not, but you'll get paid before they run out of jink, though.
"Purgatorio" is a AD&D 2nd Edition Planescape Game using elements of the Player's and DM Options and a liberal sprinkling of house rules. Lurker input is welcome on the discussion list "Silvercord", lurkers may petition for membership there too. All input to "Purgatorio" is _In Character Only_, if successful, our archives and digests will read like a good book. If not, we'll edit it. This is a game for mature as well as veteran players. We are not guaranteeing PG content, after all we get to kill stuff, right? The list is co-DM'ed by two gamers with almost forty collective years of roleplaying, additional guest DM's may also surface. One player equals one character. For more info email: purgatorio@xoommail.com.

Gamer Resume (PBeM and Otherwise):

DM's: anarion@nji.com and drennon@tellurian.net have been playing Role Playing games for almost 20 Years apiece. I have been in PBeM and FFG since 1992 in the various incarnations of the alt.dragons.inn or Red Dragon Inn IRC Rooms. This will be our first solo operation, outside of guest DM'ing for different lists or on WebRPG or IRC.

Player's: Ranging in experience from first timers to veteran's of En Garde!, they span the same ranges in RPG experience. Some have decided to return to gaming for this venture.

World of Darkness PBeM RPG

Blood in the Water, Haven by Night uses White Wolf's World of Darkness as its basis. Set in the fictitious town of Haven, Florida danger isn't as apprant on our sun washed shores and there aren't very many shadows to hind in. Welcome to Haven, where even the supernatural must tread with caution.

I have enjoyed White Wolf games since they were first released to the public (I still my first ed Vampire). Prior to that I ejoyed both playing and DMing AD&D. All in all, I have 14 years of gaming experience in everything from live action, MUSHing, and PBeM's to tabletop. I don't particularly care for the card games (it's role-playing NOT poker) though :).

Doesn't tell us much except that it's a Vampire(tm) game. And "hind"
isn't a logical typo for "hide"... looks plain sloppy to me. (Maybe we
should put a message to the effect of "You will be graded on spelling and
grammar." on the application page.)

Having decided that "generic" games aren't a bad thing, I thing, I don't
have a problem with "a Vampire(tm) game", though I think he'd do better
attracting players if his blurb were more detailed.

I'd ask what kind of character's he's looking for and try to get a better
idea of how prepared he is.

I don't think two separate lists are needed, this should be handleable with
groups.

[More details deleted.]

Sounds good to me. A relatively interesting premise that is laid out in an
interesting and coherent manner (at least to me).

short description: Of Two Worlds Fantasy/Modern PBeM RPG

longer blurb: Suddenly, the random collection of soon-to-be
"adventurers" find themselves swept out of modern-day Earth to the
strange fantasy world of Annulus. Science and technology as we know it
do not exist, and are instead replaced by a puzzling magic inherent in
specific rings. An evil seems to have descended over Annulus, yet where
does the evil exactly stem from? Everyone seems to want these ordinary
people from a different world to stamp out that evil, but how could they
be expected to? To make matters worse, this hardy group is tossed back
and forth between the two worlds, and must learn to distinguish which
one is "real." If that word has any meaning.

"resume": Participated as a player in two previous PBeMs, two message
board AD&D games, and various other role-playing on and off the net. I
have also GM'ed for one other PBeM.

Did anybody have any comments on this one? I'm kind of stuck... he can
spell, but I'm not entirely sure what the game is about. If he's any
good, this game could be a blast... but his blurb is somewhat muddled.

I don't know if we have to know what the game is 'about'. That will likely
change over time from one 'adventure' to the next. The important thing is
that he has a good grasp of the nature of his game and what he wants to do
with it, and that he knows what he's getting into. Sounds to me like he has
both. And even if he hasn't told us what the first mission is about, he CAN
write coherently. I vote yes.

Kevin.
