A few questions... why does she spell PBeM as PbEM?
The other is more important... why are the players restricted to specific
characters of the GM's creation? And I really dislike the idea of judging
players applications... "if your application is really good, I'll let you
play this special character, use magic, whatever."
Players are going to be much more likely to stick with a game when they've
created their own character... it gives them a lot more ownership in the
game than taking over someone else's character or having one given them by
the GM.
My third concern is the 18+ rating... while I don't object to adult
material, provided it doesn't spill over into pornography, the Phoenyx is
lurker-friendly and we have no way of controlling the age of lurkers (or
even players) and it wouldn't do us any good for some concerned parent to
discover that little Billy is getting emailed suggestive sex stories.
The last concern is the only one that would really stop me from giving
this game a thumbs-up.
