Hi,

I've got a lurker subscribed to storm who has started bouncing. His address
has capital letters in it, but it looks like Phoenyx has changed them to
lower case letters, and this has caused it to bounce. Seems to me this
happened quite a while ago too, but I don't remember any of the details
around it.

Anybody else notice this happening?

Karen - any ideas why this might happen? Or what to do about it?

Thanks,
Kevin.

An unsubscribe will work regardless of case. Beyond that, I can't tell
without the actual user name.

Sorry (duh), the message I got was:

  --Failed delivery to:
  Address: eg1eng@mail.bolton.ac.uk
    Actual address: EG1ENG
Status: error opening !AS as output

I don't really want to unsubscribe him, but it may not matter anyway. A few
more messages went through my list yesterday and I didn't get any further
bounces. If you see anything obvious, that's great, but otherwise don't
worry about it and I'll let you know if it happens again. (It's still
bugging me though, because I know I remember this happening before. I don't
remember for sure, but I think it may have been when you were ironing out
some bugs in new software. Oh well.)

Thanks,
Kevin.

Well, the fact that it's telling you the "actual address" means its
already made an internal conversion. It also is telling you it's using a
strange breed of software. And, lastly, it's telling you "Hello, I'm a
STUPID piece of software" on account of it should never hand back the end
user anything that cryptic. Hopefully it cc'd the local postmaster, who
is the one who really ought to be seeing it.
