Hi all, As is stated here on a very regular basis, Hotmail is ridiculously unreliable and Yahoo seems to be no better at all (I think it might actually be worse). For the relaunch of Bohavia: The Next Generation, I have suggested to former players that they play under anonymous identities until the finalists are chosen and so they all need web-based accounts and one has asked me if I know of a reliable one. Has anyone any suggestions as to one that seems to work OK? Many thanks for all your help in this matter. Hi Karen, That sounds like a very good plan to me. Is that something that I can do myself? Or is it something that you would need to do? Please bear in mind how totally clueless I am with these types of things! I only really need this to be in operation for around one month. Once the competition is over with, then each player's identity will be revealed. Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter. Well, aside from removing the X-From which I needed to do (and have done), you just need to go to the usual listowner tools (http://www.phoenyx.net/tools/inimx) and select Nick+Group Address in the From box. The users just need to go to http://www.phoenyx.net/register.html and change their Bohavia settings to have a Nickname field. That should do it. > I only really need this to be in operation for around one month. Once the > competition is over with, then each player's identity will be revealed. Then you can just switch it back to Leave Unchanged, or Nick+Address. The players can leave their character names in the Nickname field... that's what it's for. If for whatever reason you need to know who originally sent an email, I can pull the incoming logs and tell you. It might give the real email address in your status report, but I can't guarantee it. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners
Hi Karen, Thanks for your help with this. I've tried it and it works! Sorry for doubting that it would, but I guess I come from a family that doesn't trust technology very much - my Mum has only recently stopped checking that her calculator hasn't made a mistake by doing the calculations for herself on a piece of paper! I must admit that it took me a while to work out that 'Nick' refers to 'nickname' rather than 'Nick Pendrell'. I did think that the Phoenyx was exceedingly clever to recognize each DM by their first names! I don't think that I shall need to know posters by their email addresses, but if anyone starts getting silly, then it's good to know that there's a way that I can check who it is. Thanks again for all your help. Well, and fair enough; I have a habit of breaking older features while installing/modifying new ones. But I know some of the other lists do this as a matter of course (although I don't really know why), so I knew it was working at present. > I must admit that it took me a while to work out that 'Nick' refers to > 'nickname' rather than 'Nick Pendrell'. Back in college, I was involved in a MasterLife Bible study... it's a fairly intensive course, and involves a lot of memorization. The verses were on little punch-out cards. About two thirds of the way into the semester, Kathy Jo Vogel was exceeding surprised to realize that *other* people's cards *also* were designated "KJV." Anyway, just wait until you see the SQL version... it *will* know everyone by name. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners

However, I can tell you that any piece of software that I manage to get working can officially be described as 'idiot-proof'! No programming involved. (My initials at the time were KJB, but I did not think they'd made a typo on my verse cards.) >That sounds good - I just hope that it's *really* simple to understand.
