I like the idea of being able to make GM posts customised for each character (which is one of the aspects of PBEMtools) Reading the documentation I'm not at all clear how the PBEMtools implementation actually works. If I just write a post in pbemtools-format, can it parse thetags and send a customised version to each player? -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): Kalyr Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

That was one of those things I was trying to figure out exactly how to work out and still keep the thing lurker-friendly. There were a couple of possibilities: put the omniscient GM version on the mailing list (*not* sending that to the players is a complication), or put each player version in a subtopic (which means either the lurkers get *all* the copies, or have to pick certain players (and thus subtopics) to follow). -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): The Whole Phoenyx Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

I suppose you could do this with a subtopic for each player, *plus* a GM-omniscient subtopic, in which case the GM-omniscient subtopic is the only one lurkers are subscribed to by default. Not sure how you would carry out PC-to-PC conversations under this scheme, though. One complication I have in Kalyr is that I have two parties, and to further complicate matters I have one player who has a PC in each party *and* uses two different email addresses (home and work). This will break the one-to-one email-character mapping it currently uses. Some PBEMtools-like functionality is a great idea, but it needs some thought on how to implement it. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): Kalyr Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/
