If your list has gotten on a bunch of spamlists (and I'm thinking mostly of the Fudge list, here, but some others get some traffic) and you keep getting bogus subscribes, you probably want to shift your subscription over to "verify." This'll send out a confirmation email (a double-opt-in) to a new subscriber, before they're actually added. No moderator intervention is needed (for that, you want a "closed" list, I think). I think this is going to be the default setting for all new lists. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): The Whole Phoenyx Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

Can we see a copy of the confirmation email before we turn this on? It needs to be a bit friendlier than the "stop replying to digests with the digest subject line, and get a real mail reader, you moron" message. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): Fudge, Worldmaking, Fantasy Co-Editor, Phoenyx Co-Owner Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

Someone ([actualfrom]) has requested that the email address "[subscriber]" be added to the email discussion list "[baselist]@[domain]". If you want this action to be taken, simply reply to this message, leaving the special code [cookie] in the subject line. If you do not want this action to be taken, simply ignore this message and the request will be disregarded. If you believe someone is abusing this service, send the code to abuse@[domain] and we will investigate. > It needs to be a bit friendlier than the "stop replying to digests with > the digest subject line, and get a real mail reader, you moron" message. That one's just terse. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): The Whole Phoenyx Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/
