MGR: Arrgh!

I just have to vent...

My lead at work drives me nuts.  Can't see the value in using a Wiki to
manage our documentation ("to large a learning-curve") and can't even see
the value in using a HTML template system.

Why?  Because she likes to do stupid things to make HTML show the way she
wants it.  Constant use of PRE to get the formatting "just so".  Today I
discovered the she uses an _EMPTY PRE_ to produce blank lines because she
likes having extra space between headers and the previous paragraphs.

Why doesn't she like the Wiki?  Because she _can't type tabs into the edit
box_ and she relys on PRE and tabs to get her formatting "right".

And why is this so annoying?  Because _she_ wrote our documentation
formatting standards document, and it's been deemed "not worth debating"
when I object to her horrible misuse of HTML.

And what's the biggest task on my plate?  The web-page restructure
project, where I get to reorganize and review the _hundreds_ of
documentation web pages we've got.  Most of which were written by people
who clearly don't understand HTML.  Grr.

I can sympathise - I've worked with people that have done
standards-violating 'stupid tricks', and think they're being really
clever.  Such people ended up writing horrible impossible-to-maintain
spaghetti-code.

Why do people like that get promoted to team leadership positions?  (I
know some reasons, which I can't mention on a family list)
