Yep, we're still here. http://www.phoenyx.net/managers/files/exelm.jpg It's just resting. The neighbor's driveway looked much the same, but that red truck you see over there is her dad, who came over to tie chains to the branches and pull them out of the way... they're not *that* big, but they're now iced down. http://www.phoenyx.net/managers/files/southlook.jpg The view south of our house. I think it's typical of the view north, but there are vehicles in the way (our neighbor has an RV). I looked last night, though. Oh, and the neighbor's house is for sale, if you ever wanted to live in Wichita, Kansas. You'll notice very little of *her* trees fell down. But that big critter out in the street farther down? Embedded in at least two inches of ice. When the light gets better, and I put some shoes on, I'll take better pictures. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): The Whole Phoenyx Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

Healthy trees lost a lot of minor branches, and the back side of our roof is probably littered with junk from this one, but so far nothing major. http://www.phoenyx.net/managers/files/overroof.jpg Cottonwoods are nominally hardwoods, but they cope with prairie winds (and the occasional ice storm) by being fast-growing to make up for the heavy damage they take. On the plus side, this particular loss will mean less annoying fluff blowing into our yard next spring. http://www.phoenyx.net/managers/files/northlook.jpg This is the promised look north on our street. Kind of hard to pick out all the fallen stuff, but as I was standing amid the fallen elm branches when I took the shot, you get a better idea of their scale: taller than my five-foot-three self. We lost power earlier for about 45 minutes, but the UPS held up and it hasn't flickered since. It's snowing right now, and the wind is supposed to pick up, so we're not necessarily out of the woods outage-wise. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): The Whole Phoenyx Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

And though many probably wouldn't believe it, the owner had this tree trimmed back quite a bit a couple years ago. It used to have far _more_ hanging over our house. > We lost power earlier for about 45 minutes, but the UPS held up and it > hasn't flickered since. We're back up to 78% charge now (give or take the lack of accuracy in measuring battery charge). -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): Fudge, Worldmaking, Fantasy Co-Editor, Phoenyx Co-Owner Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/
