You'll have seen that I caught that one. The others were dead, that one
was undead. ("Current" activity that was really just someone saying "Hey,
this is dead." Fools the status-checker script, but not the humans, who
are just a little slower.)
So on a positive note, here are the games that appear to be alive:
akus
alienlight
bohavia
celandra
cragbain
fantasy
glitglam
greatforest
kalyr
realms
A couple of those are barely breathing; gamemasters who need help (of any
kind) should holler.
Aaaand, I'll be writing a scholarly paper soon on "Tendencies of PBeM
Games To Be In The First Half Of The Alphabet." Clearly I'm going to have
to reverse-sort the pbemlist page soon.

Akus has been suffering from real-life, burnout, and logistics problems for some time, but through it all we keep chugging along. We're coming up on 8 years now! I've got three threads going: trying to rescue a kidnapped 8 year old girl, looking for a "lost imperial library", and dealing with a murderous gang of ner'dowells...and now we have two ships to deal with. :) I think the two ships are going to split up for a while taking half the pc's off on one adventure (the library) and the rest of the pc's off on the other (the rescue and gang). One of my New Year's Resolutions is to try and respond to player posts in Kalyr more promptly :) I tend to catch up on posting at weekends, but if I'm away for a couple of weekends in succession we can get an unacceptably longish pause. And I'm going to be away at a con this coming weekend! One problem with Kalyr over the past year or so is that several players (not you!) are very sproradic in posting. Better than one of my games on Dreamlyrics, which is on hiatus because one of the players is in jail.! Well, all of the above, but I have a few players who are pretty fast and reliable, a few more who post in fits and starts (which I do too) and then I vary from often to rarely. I seem to be getting in a reactive mode, where for a little while I'll only post in response to PC actions. This doesn't really work even in face-to-face...maybe having ID'd this I might be able to do more about it. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): Alien Light Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

I've been guilty of "forgetting" a player and letting their thread hand for much too long from time to time. I've had the game bog down somewhat, too, when certain players don't respond promptly to posts...I keep waiting for them and eventually end up NPCing a move for them, but if they got a cookie reminder they might move ahead faster, and they didn't and *I* got a reminder that they haven't replied after getting a reminder *I* could move ahead faster. There might be times when I want that cookie set for 2 or 3 people though, not just one person....like, here's a post that Bruce, Suz and Greg need to reply to before we can move on, so cookies could be set for all three and if they don't reply in X days I get a reminder and can move the game on. OTOH, I'm playing in a game where the GM just made a rule, that if you didn't respond to one of his game posts within 24 hours, he would NPC your character for that return post, and everyone would move on. He's strict with the rule, and if you don't like it you can quit...it seems to work in that game. Of course, *he* sometimes disappears for a week or two and we can't NPC his gameworld while he's gone. :) Eris -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Game(s): erisred@bellsouth.net Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners/

Hi,
I'm not sure what to do about Bohavia at the moment as there's nothing
happening with it at the moment. A couple of players have volunteered to
keep it going, but then they just let it languish.
I really wouldn't want to see it die after all the years (and the millions
of words that it has generated over that time), but I am most definitely not
in a position to take it back over myself.
In mid-December I started a strange business in a strange city in a strange
country only to have my business partner quit after ten days because she
couldn't stand the workload, so I'm struggling to say the least. I only
packed enough to last me a couple of weeks and I've been out here a month
already with no possibility of leaving for a couple of months at least.
So we're talking many, many months, if not several years before I may be in
a position to kick-start it back up again.
Has anyone got any suggestions as what to do with it in the interim?
Thanks for your help with this.
Bye for now,
Nick
