Or avatars, as you prefer.

Here's a nice example thread:

http://www.phoenyx.net/cgi-bin/viceroy.pl/gamers/main/00002368/threads.html

Mine was made with a HeroMaker sort of avatar creator, some time ago.
(Yes, my hair usually does that, no, not on purpose.)

Roger's is ganked off his homepage.

I couldn't find a picture of Chuk, since he wasn't quite as obliging about
putting pictures of himself all over the net.

Bill's picture looks like it was taken by a five-year-old because it was.
(Our son, running amok with the digital on game day once. Bill's gonna
kill me.)

Carl's picture is a downsized one from his blog. The growth on his head
is his faire hat. Matches this one:
http://www.silverseams.com/images/short_term/peekaboo.jpg

They're 40x40, which seems to be a reasonable size. They're all jpg at
the moment, but I'll enable gif someday in the near future so
non-photographic ones won't end up so fuzzy.

Now that I've broken the threading (it's mid-update), I'm gonna go to bed.
It's starting to look pretty cool. (Well, okay, it was until I deselected
most of the history. But the *code* is good.)

Huh...I thought that _was_ a picture of me. I am blue with no facial
features, actually.

Wow... *you're* the men's restroom guy? I had no idea we had a celebrity
in our midst.

(Actually, Chuk's sent me a revised pic, and it's in there now. I suppose
an uploader for avatar/icon images should be on my to-do list...)

Now here was I thinking you were having nothing to do with these
new-fangled 'avatar' things.

Pictures of me exist, but they're all awful.

I would assume you'll terminate any animated .gifs with extreme prejudice...

Yeah, well. They *are* useful, if we're gonna have a forum and all. I
just don't like it when people change them all the time, or have groups of
avatars (LiveJournal, I'm looking at YOU) and don't maintain a theme, and
then post with four different unrelated avatars in the same thread. I
start to think "Geez, are you a sockpuppet?" and then I realize no, not
intentionally anyway.

However, being a roleplaying site and all, we'll like as not have avatars
linked to identities, so folks can put their character shot in their PC
identity, and all. Slippery slope, whee!

TH>Pictures of me exist, but they're all awful.

Like that stopped me from posting Bill's.

Pictures of me exist, but they're all really outdated. Apparently
everyone stopped taking pictures of me after I stopped perming my hair.
Which would be, um, 1992.

Well, I take that back. I have some pictures from while I was pregnant.
'Nuff said.

TH>I would assume you'll terminate any animated .gifs with extreme prejudice...

Not too extreme. We'll just pick a frame. We'll even be nice and pick
the last frame, instead of a random transitional one.
