Gamehawk is live.

Granted, just on the Phoenyx-news group (which has in the past only served
to feed the front page, rather than being an actual subscription group),
but live is live.

The other groups are semi-live - Firehawk is patched to feed into Gamehawk
(and has been for some time; that's where the archives are coming from)
but as of now, Gamehawk should also distribute mail to any subscribers it
has (so far, just me).

If all goes well in alpha this week, the Saturday scheduled release will
see a new group (Gavilan) and a converted group (GAMERS) served entirely
by Gamehawk.

Two w00ts it was, since I just now received your reply twice: once from my
Firehawk subscription, once from my Gamehawk subscription.

There are a few differences in the headers, the most significant one being
the From line:

From: Chuk Goodin

Member mail is not currently enabled, so don't try sending to that
address, but when that's on you'll be able to reply to it and Chuk will
get your mail iff it recognizes you... so we won't be forwarding spam
(unless it has a forged Phoenyx member address) and we won't share your
email address (if you put it in your .sig that's your own lookout), but
you can still email people nigh-directly... the Wirebird equivalent of
webforum private messages ("PMs"). If I answered him, he'd see a message
from "Karen J. Cravens "

Aside from the address shielding, that also means that all Phoenyx mail
will be from an @phoenyx.net address, which will mean listmail falls into
spam filters far less often, and the From line can be used for
whitelisting. (We've always had a properly-set Sender, but too often that
gets ignored: pragmatism wins over standards, alas. Standards that, if
enforced, would have largely prevented the *rise* of spam, be it noted.
Too late to close that particular barn door, though.)

More after Saturday's release.
