And now I'll have to kill you.

http://www.phoenyx.net/fudge/template/radar.html

Not sure I like the phoenix's feetsies. And not having wings. (He has wings, and a tail, you just can't see them.)

Also, not sure I like the filled-in P. But I went to clip the eye out for a favicon (the 15x15 graphic you see by your favorites/bookmarks, and on the tab if you use Firefox), and it turned out to look like a rotated white P on a dark gray background, with the counter filled in red. And I thought that might be an interesting icon, but I can't see where making the "p" white on dark gray will work in that layout.

Of course, none of this will make sense until you go look, and after that I'll have to kill you.

(Don't click any links, they're pointing to the wrong server and will )

Hmm. Maybe if I put dice in the feetsies...

I like how it looks, but I feel that it needs wings to be a real phoenix. I'm not sure where you would put them though. (I have a Graphic Design skill of Abysmal, too, so don't ask me to do it.)

I think I agree here... it needs at least the suggestion of fiery wings. Not much to differentiate it from a dragon in this view.

This is a problem?

This is the full critter. With a fixed right foot, I think. I haven't exported that to the color version, though.

It is to me. :) I like dragons, but this is a phoenix.

Purty. Is that your work?

What if you faded out the right (your, not its) wing similar to how you've done the feet and run it behind the text? It'd have to be pretty faint, but I think it could be pretty faint and still do the job.

You might have to rescale it to get the feet in the right place. But I'm think you may need to anyway, those feet look like it's making an awkward maneuver when they're scrunched up there.

Reverse the order of the columns and let the faded-out tail hang down into the menu, too. Would complicate your CSS nicely, too. :)

I dunno about the red-in-the-P... my eye is drawn to it first, and I think my eye should be drawn to the graphic first, which puts me in the right place to begin reading the title. The red drops me into the middle of the title and then I have to back up. The tension makes it hard to decide where my eyes should rest. (Can you tell Karen and I have actually studied graphic design and page layout? It's a handy hobby to have had all these years in this day when everybody is an amateur publisher.)

I like the overall look, though. It's spare but striking.

Yeah, but I like dragons better.

(For those who haven't been with us since the 1980's: the Phoenix (as it was spelled until the 1200-baud modem incident) was so named because it, uh, crashed and burned a lot. And "dragon" was seriously overworked in BBS names back then.)

Okay, okay. The old logo has a snakey benu neck, but I don't think that works here. Updated. No more feetsies.

The full critter (or at least one wing) will probably find its way onto the Phoenyx main page.

Purty. Is that your work?

Yeah. The full critter needs work, once I decided to zoom in on the head I kind of left it. The eye feathers need to be more flamey, and the wings are symmetrical right now and nothing else is.

Eh. I like having text in the central column.

Yeah, like I said, it came from the eye thing and that's just not working for me.

A trilobite cookie to whoever recognizes the inspiration, at least for the skinny column with user/date info.

I thought the feet we kinda neat myself, once I realized what they were. A wing (or part of one) would have been nice too.

Yeah, but it's a bit contorted for him to get them up into view, and they really are too ambiguous without the clues of the rest of the body. But like I said, the whole critter will find its way onto a [semi-]splash page.

Okay, the feet are back, and the phoenix has better hair now.

The wing is there, but it needs work. You can't tell, but it has the feathers from the Corellian phoenix, sort of.

This week's shirt.woot Derby is cryptozoology. (Thunderbird doesn't know that word. Ironic.) You should enter.

I'm going to guess that they have rights requirements that would conflict with our using it as a trademark.

Hey! I never agreed to those stakes!!

I like the overall design, feetsies or not. (Should the Favicon be a dF rather than a d6?)

The favicon started out as a test, and it never went away.
