Early adoption

There are a few more features that need finished before I turn it loose on the world, but if you want to get your avatar set up early, go to your profile page on the dev box:

http://forum.phoenyx.net/profile/{username}

only with "dev" instead of "forum" (yes, I still don't want search engines indexing it... Google has already found it but is respecting the robots.txt, which it will probably ping forevermore).

The avatars there won't affect the current avatar system, but we'll be switching over very, very soon (as soon as I clean up some registration and on-web replying bits).

Note that the dev site is pointing to live data, so don't be running amok posting crazy things and deleting yourself and such. (Okay, actually it won't let you delete an active account, and you *can* safely delete inactive email addresses that came over from the conversion. Basically, if it gives you a delete option, it's safe to use.)

And when we switch (tomorrow?), those avatars *will* be live.

I've tried accessing this today, and I can't log in. The "dev" version doesn't like the password that works for the "forum" version.

Not that I've actually got a decent avatar to use; the best one I can find is the one I use in MySpace.

Yes, dev and forum have separate password files (they share a database, but the password files are external to that right now). It gets messy.

Carl is supposed to be flipping the switch to make the new server forum instead of dev, so don't worry about it until that happens.
