"Aye, aye." Merinn closes and locks the engineering access hatch and leans down to look into the vent. "Des?"
PTGM - I don't recall if I programmed the iris's to close behind me I'm at work right now. I'll search the archives.
Relying on Eris to let me know if I hear this if they're open or closed.
The iris valves inside the ductwork are closed, and locked. Des and Merinn have the codes to open them. Des is slowly working her way forward from Engineering, opening, checking, and closing the vents behind her.
She is examining a box attached to the top a metal frame holding a grav module when she hears, "Des?" over her commdot.
Des doesn't think that box should be there, and she also thinks, but isn't sure, that *this* is the grav module that has been having those power fluctuations. There are wires coming out of this box and going into the bundle of wires carrying power, comm, sensor, etc...that doesn't look *right*!
She hasn't noticed it there before while she was working in the ductwork, but she hasn't really examined the grav module from this side before, either. She's been working on the module itself on the other side of the ductwork, not looking at the frame holding it in place. It could have been here since the ship had its refit on Glisten for all she knows.
*What the hell?* Des wonders looking at the box.
"What want?" She asks over her com.
Des pulls her meters out of the cargo pockets on her coveralls and gives the box a very quick once over with the scanner.
It is drawing a small amount of power from the bus, leaching off the power going to this particular grav module. It is also outputting a very small, but regular, pulse down the data line carrying sensor data.
Des makes a guess that this thing is making the sensors give off a small regular blip. It's possible that someone could be tracking the ship with this thing, and nobody aboard would be the wiser. What she doesn't understand, from her quick look, is why the grav module kept having those irregular drops and rises in power consumption. This leach should increase the power load, but consistently, not in an irregular fashion.
